Back in 2009, Dick Cavett paid $4.2 million for an amazingly preserved unit at the historic Central Park West co-op the Kenilworth. But all of this old-world charm wasn't enough to keep the talk-show host and comedian, as the three-bedroom home, which the listing describes as "fit for Royals," has just hit the market for $5,995,000. A lucky buyer will get to enjoy a slew of pre-war details, including leaded glass windows and doors, the original oak-paneled dining room, floor-to-ceiling custom built-ins, decorative fireplaces, and carved woodwork and moldings.

Actress Ali Wentworth and her husband George Stephanopoulos, a political reporter and co-anchor of Good Morning America, have listed their impressive, gated estate in Southampton for $5.995 million. The home at 5 Cameron Way sits on over an acre of land just off Hill Street. According to Curbed Hamptons, the power couple first purchased the sprawling estate for $4.5 million in 2013. A year later, they also picked up a Lennox Hill co-op for $2.2 million.

In addition to offering a private cove with its own pier, a 30-by-60-foot pool, lush gardens and a tea house, the estate was famously home to Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and family in 2009 when Jolie was filming “Salt” on Long Island (h/t New York Post). And it's only a 15 minute trip to Manhattan by helicopter.

Joy Behar’s $3.5M Upper West Side co-op is in contract after just two months

Comedian Joy Behar's three-bedroom Astor Court co-op at 205 West 89th street has entered contract a mere two months after it was listed for $3.5 million. "The View" co-host has been doing her share of real estate restructuring recently: 6sqft reported last month that Behar and husband Steve Janowitz dropped $2.4 million on a three-bedroom Lincoln Square condo at 62 West 62nd Street about 20 blocks south. Behar had traded up to the larger Astor Court unit in 2013, having previously lived in a smaller apartment in the building. In 2016 she sold her Hamptons vacation home; a month later she dropped nearly $5 million on a gorgeous property in Sag Harbor.

INTERVIEW: Holiday House founder Iris Dankner supports cancer research through interior design

Step into the Upper East Side's Academy Mansion until December 6th and you'll find a festive wonderland of interior design known as Holiday House NYC. The interior design show house is an undeniable display of top design talent, but what's perhaps less obvious is that the word "holiday" here has a much deeper meaning. Interior designer and Holiday House founder Iris Dankner is a 20-year breast cancer survivor. After her experience, she feels that every day is a holiday and a chance to celebrate life. With that outlook and the realization that there were no initiatives in the design industry to benefit breast cancer--a disease that impacts more than 250,000 women and 2,000 men in the U.S. each year--Iris started Holiday House a decade ago, asking each designer to draw inspiration for their room from a "holiday" or special moment in life. Now in its 10th year, Holiday House has launched its inaugural London outpost and released a coffee table book, and it's continuing its partnership with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, to which it's already donated more than $1 million. 6sqft recently visited Holiday House and talked with Iris about 10 years of Holiday House, her personal inspirations, and why "women supporting women is such a powerful tool."

The penthouse at Shigeru Ban’s Metal Shutter Houses tries its hand as a $25K/month rental

The penthouse that tops the Metal Shutter Houses, a Chelsea condo designed by Pritzker Prize winner Shigeru Ban, boasts almost as much outdoor space as it does within. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom duplex penthouse spans 3,319 square feet, with almost 2,000 square feet of landscaped terraces surrounding it and offering incredible views. The pad originally sold for $11.4 million, according to Curbed, then hit the market in 2011 for $12.95 million. After no takers, it was listed this summer for $12.9 million. And now it's trying its hand as a rental, at a hefty monthly cost of $25,000.

‘Girls’ actress Jemima Kirke’s charming East Hampton family home asks $3M

The East Hampton family home of actress Jemima Kirke, who starred as Jessa in the HBO series "Girls," has hit the market for $2.9 million. The cute four-bedroom home sits on Gardiners Bay and includes its own private beach. As Curbed learned, the home, built in 1900, has been renovated by Jemima's interior designer mother, Lorraine Kirke.

‘The View’ co-host Joy Behar drops $2.4M on a mod Upper West Side condo

According to city property records, "The View" co-host Joy Behar just dropped $2.4 million on a contemporary apartment at the Lincoln Square condo 62 West 62nd Street. Not only is the place a block away from both Central Park and Lincoln Center, but it's just four blocks from the talk show's ABC filming location on 66th Street. Ironically, it's also just a few blocks from the Trump International; Behar has been extremely vocal on her disdain for the building's namesake, even writing an entire Trump-bashing book.

Since then, the rent has climbed to $50,000, which could be why it's now hit the sales market for $16.95 million (h/t NYP). Ann Dexter-Jones, British-born socialite, jewelry designer, mom to the Ronson clan, and once-again wife of Foreigner’s Mick Jones (the pair married 32 years ago, divorced in 2007 and recently remarried) just put her chic three-bedroom Village co-op on the market (h/t New York Post). The 2,075-square-foot home at 42 West 9th Street in the coveted "Gold Coast" neighborhood off lower Fifth Avenue, asking $4.995 million, has a townhouse vibe and plenty of character. A dome-shaped home located on the Reeves Bay in Flanders, New York has hit the market at an asking price of $729,000. While the 1,762-square-foot pad keeps things compact inside, it sits on nearly an acre of land and includes incredible waterfront views. As Curbed Hamptons reported, the Southampton dome at 48 Huntington Lane first sold in 2005 for $728,500 and returned to the market this July for $899,000. In addition to the artistic design, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home features docking rights, a garage and air conditioning.

Beyoncé sells swanky Midtown apartment for $10M

It’s been a busy summer for superstar couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z. The twosome recently purchased an LA estate for $88 million in August and shortly after they bought a home on East Hampton’s Georgica Pond for nearly $26 million. Adding to their real estate hustle, Beyoncé just sold her apartment at 151 East 58th in Midtown East for $9.95 million, as the New York Post reported. The 44th-floor pad is located at One Beacon Court, the exclusive Manhattan skyscraper with a Pantheon-inspired elliptical court. Beyoncé’s former pad features three bedrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows and sweeping views of Central Park.

Berg Design’s ‘upside down’ Montauk beach house is now for sale asking $6.5M

A couple of years ago, 6sqft featured the notable design of this contemporary Montauk getaway just steps from a private ocean beach. The owners worked with Berg Design Architecture to create a lofty home on land they purchased for $970,000 in 2013. The result was an ideal summer retreat that's also cozy and warm in winter. Celebrity chef Rachael Ray is selling her Southampton home for $5M

Food Network star and cookbook author Rachael Ray has put her Southampton home on the market for $4.9 million. According to the Wall Street Journal, the 3,650-square foot home sits on six acres and includes three bedrooms, state of the art kitchen and a pool with a pool house. Ray and her husband, John Cusimano, paid $2.6 million for the home in 2008. The couple thoroughly renovated the pad after buying it, filling it with the star’s own furniture brand. The home connects to the Southampton Golf Club, providing plenty of trees and beautiful gardens.

Billionaires are clamoring to move into this Montauk trailer park

Owning a "box of air on the land" at the Montauk Shores trailer park has become the ultimate status symbol for summering rich and famous, reports the New York Post. From "glorified changing room" after a day at the beach to compact escape chamber, denizens of the boho-chic beach town have snapped up so many modular mobile homes at the Montauk trailer park that it now has its own "Billionaires' Corner." The trailer park wasn't always trendy; it began as a pop-up tent campsite in the 1940s and ’50s, eventually becoming a resort of sorts for police and firefighters, teachers and fishermen.

John McEnroe gets another grand slam, sells Southampton beach estate for $11.25M

We can't imagine he'll be having any public outbursts over the $7 million profit he just made on his Southampton estate. The Observer reports that confrontational tennis legend John McEnroe, along with his wife, musician Patty Smyth, has sold his beach-front house for $11.25 million, 18 years after buying it for $4.2 million. Not surprisingly, the home on Squabble Lane (how's that for ironic?) has a full-size Har-Tru tennis court and a gym, as well as a heated pool, private beach access, and the 8,000-square-foot mansion.

East Hampton’s ‘Driftwood House’ employs traditional Japanese charred wood techniques

On a half-acre lot perched 18 feet above Gardiner's Bay in East Hampton sits a unique site, shielded by neighboring waterfront homes on its east and west sides, but completely open in front to the bay. With these two extremes as their inspiration, MB Architecture designed the Driftwood House, using both reclaimed wood from the property's previous home and charred cypress prepared using the traditional Japanese Shou-Sugi-Ban technique. The result is a sustainable residence that "[weaves] the line of the horizon through its spaces, slowly unveiling the views, with glimpses through layers and framed transparencies."

This striking Bridgehampton home was designed with reclaimed wood from an old Brooklyn factory

This Bridgehampton estate combines the rustic rural farmhouse with the grittiness of a Williamsburg loft. The Brooklyn-based studio TA Dumbleton Architect designed the entire property, which includes both a guest home--a project 6sqft profiled here--and this main residence. The guest home, dubbed the WE Guest House, boasts an open 3,000-square-foot layout, double-height windows and insulated stucco walls. The main property, called the WE House, utilized reclaimed wood from a Brooklyn factory, board concrete and casement windows to make a strong design statement.

After three years, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s childhood home on the UES sells for $25M

James T. Lee, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis' grandfather, was a prolific NYC developer at the beginning of the 20th century, bestowing upon the city some of its most elegant co-ops like 998 Fifth Avenue and the Rosario Candela-designed 740 Park Avenue. He himself took up residency in the latter building when it was completed in 1930 and gifted another apartment in the Upper East Side building to his daughter Janet and her husband John V. Bouvier; Jackie O lived there with her parents between the ages of two to seven. In more recent years, hedge fund manager David Ganek and his wife bought the duplex in 2005 for $19.1 million, using it to also showcase their impressive modern art collection. The couple first listed the home for $44 million in 2014, and after several price chops, it's finally sold $25.25 million reports the Journal. Jacob M. Safra of the billionaire Safra family, of Brazilian banking fame, is the buyer.

‘Romantic modernist’ Norman Jaffe designed this sculptural Long Island home, now asking $4M

This dramatic, swooping home is the masterwork of Norman Jaffe, an architect known for this “romantic modernist” homes throughout the Hamptons. This stunner is located in Old Westbury, Long Island, at 15 Horseshoe Road. It was built in 1977 and chosen as one of the "best houses in America" in 1979. As Curbed put it, the unique two-story structure is "formed by several hulking volumes" which include a wood-clad, wedge-like roof, a glass-walled living space, and a stone facade and patios. Art Nerd NY’s top art, architecture, and design event picks – 7/6-7/12

Art Nerd New York founder Lori Zimmer shares her top art, design and architecture event picks for 6sqft readers! Times Square is offering up some pretty cool art experiences this week including a late-night 3D movie and vintage telephone booths that have been repurposed to play stories from immigrants to our great city.
