What happens when you let four ladies run loose in a four-story Clinton Hill townhouse? Closets, corners and a pantry spilling over with shoes and coats, apparently. "There are shoes lining the kitchen pantry shelves; the tiny third bedroom upstairs that resembles a Swiss chalet in the twilight zone is filled with racks of vintage frocks, coats and designer handbags. You can really tell almost everyone in this house either works in fashion or hoards it," says owner and 6sqft writer extraordinaire Michelle Cohen. We recently visited Michelle in her Brooklyn home to see the pretty amazing setup she has created for herself. Michelle, whose house you've certainly seen on our site before, is currently undertaking a major renovation that will turn her and her fiance Stanley's brick-clad buy into a modern-meets-historic home with a rental garden apartment. But while Michelle's poring over drawings with her architect, she's found a few friends to share the journey, and the house; namely three fabulous women with wonderfully different personalities. "Stanley likes to call it a sorority for outstanding ascendant young creative professional women," she muses. Tribeca Townhouse with Wild and Fiery Facade by System Architects Will Soon Come to Life

This isn't the sort of design we'd expect to see in Tribeca, but lo and behold, this bold statement by architect Jeremy Edmiston is about to become a reality along its brick and mortar block. The Tribeca Citizen reports that the single-family residence located at 187 Franklin Street is moving forward with construction on the kooky design which was first proposed in 2010. The project will see the building's facade removed and replaced with an undulating red facade complemented by silvery, net-like balconies.

The Olnick Spanu House Is a Minimal, Modern Glazed Home on the Hudson River

The Olnick Spanu House is a modernist beauty on the banks of the Hudson River in Garrison, New York. Its simple design consists of a glazed box built on an extended platform and topped by a light cantilevered roof supported by an array of cylindrical pillars. The project is by Spanish architect and lecturer Alberto Campo Baeza, who sought to create a modest but modern home peacefully immersed in nature.

West Village Townhouse by 1100 Architect Maximizes Natural Light in a Historic Structure

The West Village may be one of the toughest neighborhoods in which to undergo a complete renovation of one's home since a large portion of the area is landmarked and consists of historic rowhouses. For this overhaul, though, 1100 Architect masterfully blended the old with the new, all while maximizing natural light throughout the townhouse. The home combines original brick walls with and wood elements with exposed steel and glass, resulting in a structure that both blends with its neighbors and stands out as an eye-catching work of architecture.

Back in September, we revealed that actress Michelle Williams had listed her Boerum Hill townhouse for $7.5 million. Not surprisingly, the beautiful, ivy-covered home didn't last long on the market. According to city records released today, the "one and only" corner home has sold for $8.8 million.

Steven Harris-Designed West Village Townhouse Sells for $15M

We're big fans of the work of Steven Harris Architects here at 6sqft, so it came as no surprise that this West Village townhouse that features the firm's lovely designs sold for $15 million. According to city records released today, the seller of the home located at 156 West 13th Street is Candida Smith, curator and daughter of the late celebrated artist and sculptor David Smith. The Greek Revival townhouse was built in 1846 for the estate of Peter Remsen, a member of a prominent Knickerbocker family. Steven Harris updated the home to include modern conveniences like an elevator and an industrial-sized kitchen, while retaining its historic charm and grandeur.

MAD-Designed West Village Duplex Gets a Modern Update with a Cantilevered Staircase

Originally built in 1817, this West Village townhouse recently underwent a complete renovation by Matiz Architecture & Design (MAD). The transformation of this historic Bleecker Street duplex introduced custom millwork and a cantilevered wood stair as the focal point of the design. It also mixed the home's original features, like exposed brick, ceiling beams and wide-plank flooring with modern updates such as sleek countertops, whitewashed woodwork and contemporary art. By eliminating all full-height partitions and creating an open floor plan, the firm was able to make this space feel twice its size.

Minetta Street Townhouse with Yo-Yo Sales History Goes for $5.7M

Sure, we all love a good flip story, but this is more like a flip flop. This lovely townhouse at 17 Minetta Street in Greenwich Village sold for the first time as a single-family home in 2010 for $5.1 million; it then sold again in 2013 for $5.8 million (after asking $7.5); now it's sold for $5,676,000, above the $5.35 asking price, according to city records. We're not quite sure why the landmarked home keeps getting tossed around for little to no profit. The 19th century Federal townhouse got a modern renovation in 2008 by architects and designers Zhenya Merkulova and Alan Tanksley; it's accessed through a gated mews that leads to a private garden.

Since then, we've often found ourselves ogling his site for design inspiration, further falling in love with his ability to blend the old with the new through thoughtful material choices and a unique use of light and space.
