Behind a Boring Facade Are Cool, Lofty Apartments in Greenpoint

The four-story townhouse at 106 Dupont Street in Greenpoint is nothing to write home about. In fact, it's straight up boring, and it'd be fair to assume the interior was, too. But the building, which was gut renovated in 2006, actually holds some cool apartments inside. It was separated into three units: a super lofty, top-floor duplex with three bedrooms; a middle floor-through apartment with two bedrooms; and a first-floor, floor-through unit with two bedrooms and a private garden. The listing is marketing this as a good investment for "an end-user who wants to collect great rental income," as it's currently occupied by tenants. But they'll have to cough up a lot of cash first: the property is asking $3.78 million.

Jonas Brothers Get Back Together to Check Out a $10M Chelsea Penthouse

Fans looking for a Jonas Brothers comeback will be happy to know that the trio was recently spotted checking out an apartment together, reports the Post. Though this doesn't come with news that Joe, Nick, and Kevin will be getting on stage together again, it does hint that they're working on something here in Manhattan. The musicians looked at a swanky penthouse unit at 560 West 24th Street in Chelsea. The $10.25 million duplex spread has three bedrooms (how appropriate), a glass-enclosed living area with soaring 13-foot ceilings, and a large terrace complete with an outdoor fireplace.

Looks like Jonah Hill is battening down the hatches in hopes of finding a new Downtown pad. Three years ago, the actor bought a Soho loft at 27 Howard Street for $2.65 million, but put it on the market in August 2014 for a hefty $3.8 million. Back in March, he chopped the price to $3.5 million, and now a tipster tells us that he was seen taking photos outside The Schumacher, the newly unveiled Noho condo conversion at 36 Bleecker Street.

The holidays are a notoriously hard time to sell and rent apartments, so we appreciate that this rental unit at 416 Henry Street in Cobble Hill is just going ahead and getting into the holiday spirit. A Christmas tree is on display in the lovely living room with its big windows and ceiling moldings. 416 Henry Street is a four-story brownstone building that holds three units, this being on of them. What appears to be a floor-through unit, holding three-and-a-half bedrooms and two bathrooms, is on the rental market for $6,000 a month. Looks like it last rented in 2013 for $4,300 a month.

This Boerum Hill Duplex Comes With a Private Patio and 600-Foot Jogging Track

When a residential building is called the Skytrack Condominium, you know the roof deck is going to be awesome. This building, at 120 Boerum Place in Boerum Hill, was originally a manufacturing building back when the neighborhood was filled with boarding houses for ironworkers working on Manhattan’s bridges and skyscrapers. The building went condo in 1983 and maintained many of the old industrial interior details, including a “skytrack” that wraps around the roof of the building. The track, which runs around the perimeter of the building's roof deck, is now used as a walking or jogging path by residents. Cute Chelsea Studio Maximizes Space With Casement Windows and Private Terrace

This is not your average studio apartment. For starters, it's located inside a brownstone at 405 West 21st Street, in Chelsea. (The five-story property has actually been split into 12 different apartments.) It is also lofted, to create some more space in the otherwise cozy apartment. And a beautiful wall of casement windows brings in tons of light. But the big perk of this studio is that those windows look out onto private outdoor space, which is definitely not a typical offering of a tiny pad. This lovely private patio, which looks out onto the surrounding townhouses, adds an extra 400 square feet. Here's a co-op apartment that has everything in place, prim and proper as can be. It's a one-bedroom, two-bathroom unit that's located on the second floor of a West Village townhouse at 53 Horatio Street. The pre-war brick building, constructed in 1848, also looks pretty proper and stately, without any adornments or flourishes. Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent List Their Greenwich Village Penthouse for $10.5M

Back in September Architectural Digest dedicated a whole cover plus photo spread to Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent "settling in" to their pristine apartment, a penthouse at the Emery Roth-designed 39 Fifth Avenue in the heart of the Village. While the pair spent the better part of the piece gushing about how they'd finally found their dream home (“We couldn’t stop thinking about the apartment, believing we were meant to live there...we were able to create the home of our dreams," Brent said to AD at one point), it looks like the family, which includes their young daughter Poppy, couldn't quite get as comfy as they'd hoped, because they've just listed their spacious pad for $10.5 million.

Construction Update: 100 Barrow Street Rises Above Street Level From St. Luke’s Churchyard

With the foundation finally laid, Toll Brothers' 100 Barrow Street has made its way above ground and will bring 35 brand new apartments to the West Village. The tower is being built on the site of a pre-existing parking lot on the full-block grounds of the Church of St. Luke in the Fields. While no demolition of existing structures or reduction of green space was necessary, the site does lie at the western edge of the Greenwich Village Historic District and across from the Archives Building, which is an individual landmark. Proceeds from the development will be used to fund the church's own new buildings, which include an expansion of its existing private school and the construction of a new mission where L.G.B.T.Q. homeless youth and under-served individuals can receive meals and shelter. The latter will also serve as a 24/7 drop-in center where people will be able to get a change of clothes and take showers.

Chloe Sevigny’s Former East Village Co-op Sells for $2.1M

Queen of indie films Chloë Sevigny unsurprisingly lived in the East Village in 2005, scooping up a garden-level co-op at 119 East 10th Street for $1,199,000 and becoming neighbors with fellow indie royal Parker Posey. By 2013, Sevigny made the inevitable move to Brooklyn (she stated that the East Village had become like a frat house) and sold her one-bedroom Manhattan pad for $1.76 million to tech power couple Halle Tecco and Jeffrey Hammerbacher. Despite the stylish renovation that the couple undertook, they listed the residence this summer for $2.2 million. The Post now reports that the home sold for just under its asking price to Shana Randhava, the executive director of the Estee Lauder Companies. Interestingly, they note that Sevigny "has been quoted about her love for Estee Lauder products, particularly their 'luxury compacts.'"

Though we so often hear that an eye for interiors–or a good decorator–can make even the smallest apartment feel like a gracious home, we love to see real-life examples that aren't in magazines shot by highly-paid photographers. This slender Upper East Side one-bedroom co-op at 330 East 94th Street with a relatively manageable $435,000 price tag is an inspiring example. Interview: Ansonia Insider Michel Madie Shares Stories of the Iconic NYC Building

Today, the Upper West Side's Ansonia is considered one of the city's most iconic and prestigious addresses. With former residents ranging from Sergei Rachmaninoff, Gustav Mahler, Babe Ruth and more recently Natalie Portman, its history reaches far back. And along its more than century-old ride, it's no surprise that it has also attracted plenty of strange activity, including playing host to what probably was the city's first rooftop farm in 1904 and a debaucherous sex club known as Plato's Retreat. While there's lots of ground to cover when looking back on this 111-year-old building, we decided to tap an insider for his take on this storied structure. Michel Madie of Michel Madie Real Estate Services has over the years become an unofficial historian of sorts to the Ansonia. Madie moved from France to New York in 1984 and almost immediately fell in love with the French-inspired building. However, being near-penniless at the time, the thought of ever taking up space in such a grand building seemed like just a dream. But as he found success in the real estate business, he focused his attention on the Ansonia. He eventually purchased an apartment and then spent decades tending to the architecture, restoring its original layouts and recreating original finishes and fixtures in the building's many units whenever the opportunity would arise. During this time, Madie also learned a thing or two about the residence, stories which he shares with 6sqft ahead.
