Coughlin Architecture gives an actor’s 500-square-foot penthouse an efficient design update

Living in a tiny apartment no longer has a stigma attached to it. If anything, their inhabitants and the architects who outfit them seem to revel in their diminutive stature. One such example is this mere 500-square-foot penthouse apartment located on West 56th street across from the Hearst Tower, recently given a sweeping update by Coughlin Architecture. The home's owner, an actor splitting time between NYC and LA, requested an open, bright space, with a minimal kitchen and bathroom.

Dumbo Clock Tower penthouse finally sells for $15M, is borough’s priciest condo ever sold

And just like that, the record for the most expensive condo ever sold in Brooklyn has been broken. A triplex penthouse at 1 Main Street, atop the Clock Tower building in Dumbo, sold for $15 million, beating out a unit at Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pierhouse that closed for nearly $10.6 million just last month. As the New York Post reported, the historic unit had a hard time finding a buyer; it sat on the market for nearly six years, switched brokerages and chopping its price tag several times.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are bringing sexy back to Tribeca with new penthouse buy

According to the Real Deal, the power couple signed a deal for a penthouse at 443 Greenwich Street. Built in 1882 and recently restored by CetraRuddy Architects, the building boasts an interior courtyard, underground garage, 71-foot indoor swimming pool and landscaped roof terrace, so it’s no wonder celebrities are flocking here. While the exact unit the couple bought remains unclear, Penthouse G is currently under contract for $27.5 million.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s Tribeca penthouse finally finds a buyer

Last month's price chop and new listing photos certainly did the trick--Gwyneth Paltrow and ex-husband Chris Martin have finally found a buyer for their Tribeca penthouse at 416 Washington Street. The consciously uncoupled pair bought the apartment as a pied-a-terre in 2007 for $5.1 million, but after going their separate ways, listed it last March for $14.25 million. Gwynie then reduced the price to $12.85 million in November and again to $9,995,000 last month. Now, Mansion Global reports that it's gone into contract, though until it hits public records there's no word on who the lucky buyer is and whether or not they'll retain the "ethereal" interiors and fuzzy nap zones.

The U.S. Senate voted 72 to 27 last week to confirm billionaire investor Wilbur Ross as Commerce Secretary. Curbed reports that the 14-room, "European-style" apartment first hit the market in 2015 for $21 million, then got a price chop to $18.5 million at the end of last year, and has now been reduced again to $16.5 million, less than the $18 million he paid for it in 2007.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s all-white Tribeca penthouse gets $3M price chop and lots of listing photos

Though not notable for leading a private lifestyle (might we mention her very public "conscious uncoupling" and certain intimate products that she's touted on her blog Goop), Gwyneth Paltrow has been reticent to showcase interior photos of her Tribeca penthouse. She first listed the pad at 416 Washington Street last March for $14.25 million; after chopping the price to $12.85 million in November, she self-published a few images on Goop; but now that it's taken a third cut to $9,995,000, it looks like Gwynie is loosening up. LL NYC first spotted the new listing with Compass, which now has plenty of views, from the famous fuzzy nap zones, to the living room swing made of an antique Indoor door, to endless swaths of white marble and ethereal hand-painted wall coverings.

Half of Tribeca dream penthouse pair, whitewashed but still dreamy, hits the market for $4.9M

Sometimes one penthouse is enough. That's what the owner of a pair of sleek, terrace wrapped trophy penthouses at 110 Duane Street on the West Broadway side of Tribeca found out after the two units were on the market together for about a year starting in 2014 at $9.95 million for the pair. After a $1 million price chop, there was an attempt to further sweeten the 4,550-square-foot dream home concept with plans drawn up for a massive melding of the two. The two pricey pads parted ways in 2015, going to separate buyers, 3N for $4.25 million and 3S for $4 million. Now the latter half of the star-crossed dream home has had a trendy, Euro-pale design makeover and is back on the market for $4.9M.

Elegant Central Park West penthouse hits the market for the first time in 30 years, asks $20M

The listing for this prewar triplex penthouse on the Upper West Side says it's "like a house hovering twenty-two floors above Central Park," but one look at the sprawling floor plan suggests that "mansion" might be a better word. Five bedrooms may sound ordinary, if luxurious, but countless other rooms and suites, three enormous terraces on the middle floor, a wraparound terrace on the bedroom floor and helicopter views in every direction put this iconic home atop a classic Emery Roth-designed co-op at 320 Central Park West in a class by itself—and its $20 million ask certainly reflects its status.

First look at the $30M penthouse at Robert A.M. Stern’s 30 Park Place

The top-floor units at Robert A.M. Stern's 930-foot 30 Park Place have a way of making headlines. The 82nd floor penthouse, for instance, boasts the highest private outdoor space in the city, and the building's own developer, Larry Silverstein, recently snatched up the massive 80th floor spread for $34 million. But below these units are two duplex penthouses that span the 78th and 79th floors, notable for their double-height loggias that, as Curbed notes, have become a fixture in classic Stern buildings like 15 Central Park West and 520 Park Avenue. Curbed also got their hands on new photos of penthouse 78B, on the market for $29.5 million, which not only showcase the incredible views from the terrace, but new looks at the interiors.
