Project Apartment Hunt: Heidi Klum Checks Out Bon Jovi’s $37.5M Soho Penthouse

Looks like rocker Jon Bon Jovi may be saying "Auf Wiedersehen" to his Soho penthouse at 158 Mercer Street's New Museum Building, as supermodel Heidi Klum was seen checking out the $37.5 million digs. The six-bedroom, 7,452-square-foot duplex is chock full of luxurious amenities such as wood-burning fireplaces, landscaped terraces, screening and projection rooms, and living and kitchen areas on both floors. Klum was scoping out several downtown homes, but it's not going to be easy to pass up this superb penthouse.

The Penthouse at the Mark Refuses to Budge on $60M Price Tag

At least they’re consistent. The on-again-off-again penthouse listing at The Mark continues to insist on a $60 million asking, nearly seven years after it first popped up on the market. This is particularly audacious considering the building’s already shaky history, which is fraught with buyer back-outs, lawsuits, and heavy price cuts. Still, the penthouse surges ahead asking more than $6,000 per square foot and daring anyone to challenge it. And what do you get for $60 million dollars plus $44,645 per month in common charges?

$130 Million Penthouse at 520 Park Avenue Will Be the City’s Most Expensive

The Ritz Carlton penthouse combo has just been shoved from its top spot as the city's priciest listing and replaced by the triplex penthouse at Zeckendorf Development Co.’s 520 Park Avenue. At $130 million, it will become the most expensive to ever hit the market, beating out the Ritz pad by about $11 million. According to Bloomberg, the building's sales plan was approved by the New York State attorney general's office last week, and Zeckendorf is already calling the penthouse "the greatest apartment on the Upper East Side.”

Just last week, we announced that the Jean Nouvel-designed MoMA residential tower was finally moving forward, after the purchase of $85 million in air rights and with a new construction loan of $860 million. Now, The Real Deal has obtained penthouse floorplans for the 82-story tower, and they are nothing to sneeze at.

Bernie Madoff’s Infamous Upper East Side Penthouse Sells for $14.5M

The duplex penthouse at 133 East 64th Street on the Upper East Side, where Bernie Madoff notoriously was arrested by the feds and lived under house arrest, has just sold to Lawrence Benenson of Benenson Capital Partners for $14.5 million. Madoff had lived in the home since 1984, but after the government seized it in 2008, it was picked up by toy mogul Alfred Kahn and his wife Patsy in 2010 for $8 million. Apparently, Mr. Kahn was superstitious of the "Madoff curse," but Patsy fell in love with the unit's terrace. They reportedly put the penthouse back on the market in August 2013 for $17.25 million, but reduced the price several times as well as filed for divorce.

Kelly Ripa’s Soho Penthouse Sells at a $4.5 Million Discount

Kelly Ripa has officially unloaded her Soho penthouse, according to city records filed today. The five-bedroom beauty at 76 Crosby Street sold for $20 million, $4.5 million less than what she was asking when she first listed it in January last year. Though Ripa came up a little short, it's worth noting that her and hubby Mark Consuelos paid just $9.5 million for it in 2005. Today's sale is also the 6th highest ever recorded in Soho, according to CityRealty.

Gamer Zach Gage Nabs Penthouse with Futuristic Rooftop Watchtower for $3.9M

Forbes' 30 under 30 in video games, Zach Gage, is cashing in on his success. The gamer and conceptual artist just picked up this sweet Chinatown penthouse at 18 Orchard Street for $3.9 million, according to city records filed today. The 28-year old, who has developed games such as SpellTower, Ridiculous Fishing, and Lose/Lose, and been exhibited at venues like the Venice Biennale, the MoMA, and in Apple stores worldwide, seems to not have strayed far from his edgy sensibilities. His new three-bedroom duplex features a rooftop catwalk, some killer lights, and a futuristic watchtower with "a transcendent view of the sunset and cityscape".

Penthouse Sales Launch at Brooklyn’s Tallest Skyscraper, 388 Bridge

Downtown Brooklyn's most talked about new development—and tallest tower—has just announced the launch of its 'Penthouse Collection'. Located at 388 Bridge, 40 penthouses ranging from 1,144 square feet to 2,371 square feet on floors 45 through 53, have been priced at $1.742 million and up. The units offer up 360-degree views looking out to Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and several residences have been set up as duplexes with outdoor terraces.

Kirsten Dunst Lists Soho Penthouse for $12,500 a Month

With her Spider Man days behind her, Kirsten Dunst has put her Soho penthouse on the rental market for $12,500 a month, according to NYDN. She bought the two-bedroom apartment at 533 Canal Street for $3.09 million in 2007, citing that she needed a break from Los Angeles. Maybe she's looking for a little more privacy now, as fellow celebs including Casey Affleck and director Gus Van Sant have also called the building home. The slightly quirky pad is available fully or partially furnished, which is a bonus since Dunst clearly has a good eye for comfortable furniture, vintage pieces, and industrial-chic decor.

Patrick Stewart Finds a Buyer for His Upper West Side Penthouse

Sir Patrick Stewart of X-Men and Star Trek fame has found a buyer for his Upper West Side pied-à-terre. The two-bedroom, 1,300-square-foot co-op at 118 West 79th Street entered contract after seeing several bids. The actor put the unit on the market in June for $3.8 million. He bought the home in 2003 for $1.8 million with his then-wife Wendy Neuss, but the couple divorced shortly thereafter, and Neuss remained in the penthouse apartment.

The penthouse craze began in the early 20th century thanks to media tycoon William Randolph Hearst. He took up residence in a three-floor apartment at the Clarendon at 137 Riverside Drive and, when his landlord refused to let him expand further, Hearst bought the entire building, adding two new floors to the top of his mansion, crowned by a new copper mansard roof. Floor Plans of the Woolworth’s $110M ‘Pinnacle’ Penthouse Revealed

It looks like Alchemy Properties' plan to price the penthouse at the Woolworth building for $110 million has been approved by the New York Attorney General’s office, making it one of the most expensive listings to ever hit the downtown market at $11,700 per square foot. According to The Real Deal, who got a first look at the floor plans, the unit will be called the "Pinnacle" and host 9,400 square feet with about 500 square feet of outdoor space.
