Vince Clarke’s gorgeous Park Slope townhouse asks $6M after Roman and Williams haute-goth makeover

Back in 2008, the stunning 19th century Park Slope townhouse at 178 Garfield Place belonging to J. Crew president and creative director Jenna Lyons wowed design and brownstone junkies when it made the cover of Domino magazine and the pages of countless others. In 2012, the stylishly- and painstakingly-renovated home was sold for an impressive $4 million to Depeche Mode founder Vince Clarke and his wife, Tracy Hurley Martin. As 6sqft previously reported, the pair–she helmed Brooklyn's fabulously peculiar (and recently-shuttered) Morbid Anatomy Museum and adores curiosities and the darker side of collecting–hired designers-to-the-stars Roman and Williams to give the four-story home yet another design makeover. Though a New York Times home design feature quotes Mrs. Martin as saying, "This is it. This is where I’m going to die. Hopefully not anytime soon,” upon first touring the 3,600 square-foot townhouse, a very much alive Martin and Mr. Clarke have put the home on the market for $5.995 million.

Samantha Bee gets ‘Full Frontal’ with new $3.7M Riverside Drive co-op

Now that political commentator Samantha Bee is into her second season hosting "Full Frontal" it looks like she wants to put down some permanent roots near the show's west side studio at CBS. According to city records, she and her husband, fellow comedian Jason Jones, dropped $3.7 million on a somewhat basic Riverside Drive co-op.

Historic Calvert Vaux-designed co-op that was once a refuge for girls, now asks $1.35M as a cozy duplex

Time hasn’t erased the historic feel of this unusual one-bedroom-plus-sleeping loft co-op, diminutive as it is elegant. It has the look of a renovated townhouse in one of the city’s most creative neighborhoods. At $1.35 million this petite pad may be an expensive refuge, but in its earliest days it was a refuge of a different sort with a history as interesting as its architecture–especially at a time when the ability to offer shelter to those in need is firmly in the spotlight. Landmarked in 2008, the subtly ornate red-brick facade of 307 East 12th Street was designed in 1892 by the firm of Calvert Vaux, who co-designed Central and Prospect Park among other enduring landmarks. Built for the Children’s Aid Society, the building was known as the Elizabeth Home for Girls; the New York Times tells us that it housed "several dozen young women rescued from abusive homes, offering them safe lodging, job training and healthy communal activities.”

Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh lists Tribeca loft below Taylor Swift for $5.75M

Now's your chance to get in at Tribeca's celebrity heavy condo, the Sugar Loaf Building at 155 Franklin Street. Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh has listed his $5.75 million three-bedroom apartment, which is situated right below Taylor Swift's palatial, lofty pad. And at 155 Franklin, all things revolve around Taylor Swift: Sir Ian McKellen was staying in Peter Jackson's apartment and got evicted when Jackson sold the unit to Swift; and Orlando Bloom sold his apartment soon after Swift moved in with rumors of paparazzi annoyance. But if you don't mind the crowd of fans, this unit boasts 2,450 square feet as well as the same exposed brick and timber-beamed ceilings that decorate Swift's nearby abode.

Extell’s One Manhattan Square reaches halfway point and gets its glassy skin

Despite the rapid influx of new development that's popping up in the controversial Two Bridges area, the Chinatown-meets-Lower East Side neighborhood's first project, One Manhattan Square, still reigns as the tallest. In fact, when it reaches its full 823-foot height, Extell's 80-story condo at 252 South Street will have the highest rooftop between downtown and Midtown Manhattan. Now that sales have commenced, CityRealty paid the construction site a visit, noticing that the double-slab tower is already more than 30 stories tall and has begun to receive its reflective glass skin.

Ricky Martin’s Yorkville condo gets a $1.3M price chop

Ricky Martin might've gotten a bit too optimistic about Yorkville's Second Avenue Subway-influenced real estate boom, as Mansion Global reports that he's chopped the price of his condo at 170 East End Avenue from $8.4 million to $7.1 million after just five months. This isn't the first time the Latin pop star has had trouble unloading NYC real estate; in 2012 he put his condo in Noho's 40 Bond on the rental market for $28,000/month. In 2014, he listed it for $8.3 million, but it didn't find a buyer until a year and half later when it sold for the reduced price of $7.55 million.

Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh sells stylish Chelsea pad for $4.8M

All the way back in August 2014, 6sqft featured the $5 million listing for this stylish co-op at 147 West 22nd Street in Chelsea, pointing out its trendy features such as a retractable garage-style glass door, massive open living space with wall-to-wall windows, and uber-contemporary kitchen. And as it turns out, the full-floor spread belonged to producer and director Steven Soderbergh, who's best known for his work directing "Erin Brockovich," "Traffic" (for which he won the Oscar), and "Ocean's 11." The Real Deal reports that he's now finally found a buyer for the apartment, selling it for $4.8 million.

New renderings and photos show Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 5 uplands are almost complete

You won't need to see more than a few renderings and photos of new park space slated for Brooklyn Bridge Park to feel ready for summertime. First posted by Curbed from the park's landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, renderings show the final design for one of the last undeveloped sections of the park between Montague and Joralemon streets. Known as the Pier 5 uplands, the hilly green space will be comprised of a stepped lawn, shaded grove, waterfront seating and new entrance off Joralemon Street. A sound-dampening berm will reduce noise from the nearby roadways. And it's all on track to wrap construction right before summer.

Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelow lists Tribeca condo for $2.9M

In March 2015, Kathryn Bigelow (who in 2010 became the first woman to win the Academy Award for Best Director for her work on "The Hurt Locker" and subsequently gained more acclaim for "Zero Dark Thirty") bought a $3.03 million condo in Tribeca, but she's now decided to part ways with it. The Observer reports that Bigelow just listed the full-floor spread at 449 Washington Street for $2,895,000, meaning she'll likely take a slight loss on the property.

Helen Hayes’ former Nyack home asks $719K

Helen Hayes' acting career spanned nearly 80 years, earning her the nickname "First Lady of American Theatre" and garnering her distinctions such as being one of only 12 people to win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and a Tony and earning her the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Arts. When her storied life came to an end in 1993, she was living in Nyack, New York, where she first took up residency when she married playwright and screenwriter Charles MacArthur in 1928. At that time, the couple moved into a home at 29 Shadyside Avenue that Charles' father had built in 1908. Mike Myers relists Tribeca loft he bought a week ago for $15M

Nah, baby, nah... It took just a week for Mike Myers to change his mind about purchasing a sprawling $14.65 million loft in Tribeca's 443 Greenwich Street. The Observer reports the funnyman has just relisted the 4,241-square-foot spread for a slightly higher $15 million. While it's not clear what prompted his decision, Myers' move gives us a fresh look inside the four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom condo currently being marketed by Compass. The firm incidentally is also trying to help him sell his Mercer Street penthouse, currently going for $15.95 million.

Mike Myers drops $14.65M on Tribeca condo at super-luxe 443 Greenwich

The red-brick, former warehouse building at 443 Greenwich Street in Tribeca was converted to boutique condos by CetraRuddy Architects and developer Metro Loft Management in 2014, and since then it's been attracting quite a bit of high-profile interest thanks to its low-profile location, luxurious lofts, and wealth of amenities. The latest celeb to cash in here is Mike Myers; the Observer reports that he and wife Kelly Tisdale have dropped $14.65 million on a four-bedroom spread (more than the $14.25 million list price). The funnyman has been trying to sell his Soho penthouse since April 2015, and though there's no word that it's found a buyer, that could very well be the reason for the move.

$8M Tribeca loft is artist-owned and comes with a spacious studio and sculptor neighbor

The interiors at this jumbo Tribeca loft are a work of art even at first glance; that's likely because the 4,223 square foot home at 173 Duane Street is currently owned by artist Merrill Steiger, who bought it in 2008 for $3.85 million. Incidentally, the two-bedroom loft co-op is also in the building where sculptor Richard Serra has lived and worked since the 1990s. Serra, who is known for his large-scale site-specific works, has at various times purchased the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors of the classic early 20th-century cast iron building with his wife, Clara. The sprawling second floor apartment with a separate art studio is currently listed by Steiger for $7.95 million.

Emma Stone’s former Chelsea townhouse returns for $19.75M

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, Jason Statham and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Glenn Close, Courtney Love, Olivier Sarkozy--all of these celebs have called the landmarked townhouse at 436 West 20th Street home. But as Curbed notes, this A-list roster isn't helping the 1835 Greek Revival beauty find a buyer, which may have to do with the fact that it's currently chopped up into five units.
