The 16-story rental is located at 1769 Jerome Avenue in the Morris Heights neighborhood and is one of the first affordable housing developments constructed under the 2018 Jerome Avenue rezoning. After $5M restoration, NYC’s historic Highbridge Water Tower reopens for public tours

Described in 1967 by the Landmarks Preservation Commission as "one of Manhattan's most picturesque architectural monuments," the Highbridge Water Tower reopened on Wednesday following a restoration project. Located in Washington Heights, the octagonal tower opened in 1872 and served as part of the Croton Aqueduct system, helping increase water pressure throughout the borough. While it no longer is part of the city's water system, the 200-foot landmark is the only one of its kind that remains today. The Parks Department also announced free public tours of the inside of the tower led by the department's Urban Park Rangers will resume next month.

Developed by Brookfield Properties, Bankside is a $950 million seven-tower complex that stretches across two Harlem River-facing parcels in Mott Haven. Located in the Jerome Park neighborhood, close to both Bronx Park and Van Cortlandt Park, the 13-story building at 211 East 203rd Street is offering units ranging from $592/month studios to $1,681/month two-bedrooms. Some of the apartments are set aside for seniors, while others are reserved for those who qualify for the Section 8 program. About a month after Robert A.M. Stern's affordable rental building opened in Brooklyn, the renowned architect's firm has been tapped to design another residential development designated for low-income New Yorkers. The city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development last week announced a project to bring 40 homeownership opportunities to a new 8-story building in the Bronx, which will be designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) and developed in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity, Camber Property Group, Almat Urban, and Interboro Community Land Trust. The building, located near Claremont Park, will have apartments that are affordable to families of three earning up to $93,000 annually.

Muller Army Reserve Center. The newly redesigned four-story site, dubbed the Muller Residences, now contains roughly 90 units, with 54 apartments set aside for formerly homeless veterans and 35 for those earning 60 percent of the area median income, which are available through this current housing lottery. Trump Organization sues NYC over canceled Bronx golf course contract

The Trump Organization on Monday sued New York City, claiming the cancelation of its Bronx golf course contract earlier this year was politically motivated. In January, just days after the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced plans to terminate several agreements with former President Donald Trump's company, including the contract for Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point. As first reported by ABC News, the lawsuit argues the mayor had a "pre-existing, politically-based predisposition to terminate Trump-related contracts, and the city used the events of January 6, 2021 as a pretext to do so."

In a press conference today, Governor Cuomo announced that the plan to build four new Metro-North stations in underserved areas of the Bronx is officially moving forward after the state, federal government, and MTA all agreed to a $1.58 billion budget. Today, the state is reissuing the RFP for track upgrades and construction of stations at Hunts Point, Parkchester/Van Nest, Morris Park, and Co-op City. These trains will terminate at a reimagined Penn Station, reducing commute times for Bronx Residents by two-thirds.

The landmarked bathhouse and pavilion at Orchard Beach in the Bronx will be restored to its original 1930s design and become more accessible to the public. The Landmarks Preservation Commission on Tuesday voted to approve plans from architecture firm Marvel, the Parks Department, and the city's Economic Development Corporation to reconstruct the deteriorating architectural gem. The project includes reinstalling and restoring limestone cladding, repairing the upper-level loggias, adding an ADA accessible ramp, and building an enclosed restaurant or event space.
