The Weeknd’s former rental at 443 Greenwich Street in Tribeca has hit the market for $27.5 million. The Grammy Award winner moved into the $60,000/month penthouse apartment in 2018 with then-girlfriend Bella Hadid. Now for sale and “available immediately,” as the Real Deal spotted, penthouse D takes up three levels and includes over 1,000 square feet of private outdoor space.
The New York Post reported last month that The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, resigned his lease at the building amidst coronavirus concerns. “He wasn’t planning on staying,” a source told the Post. “He wants to buy something. This is definitely a COVID-19 move.”
The triplex contains four bedrooms, four full baths, and a separate powder room. Accessed via keyed elevator, the apartment’s sunlit open-layout living room features double-height ceilings and a whopping seven south-facing windows.
Party-ready, the chef’s kitchen has a massive subzero fridge and a hidden Gagganeou wine fridge with enough space for 70 bottles. Other enviable elements include custom wood cabinetry, Calacatta marble countertops, top-of-the-line appliances, and something we could all use at the moment, two dishwashers.
The master bedroom and its east-facing ensuite bathroom can be found on the second floor. The spa-like bathroom features a freestanding egg tub, a glass-enclosed steam shower, radiant heating floors, and more. Another bedroom and a den, which can easily be converted into a bedroom, are also on this level.
On the top floor, a room with floor-to-ceiling glass opens onto a private roof terrace. The landscaped space, fully equipped with lighting and speakers, has a full kitchen, perfect for barbecuing.
Due to 443 Greenwich Street’s emphasis on resident privacy (it includes an underground parking garage), A-listers like Rebel Wilson, Jake Gyllenhaal, Meg Ryan, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, and Jennifer Lawerence have all purchased homes at the luxury property.
Amenities at the building, which was built in the 1880s and converted into condos in 2014, include a 70-foot long indoor swimming pool, a central landscaped courtyard, a fitness center with a yoga studio, wine room, and valet parking.
And according to the listing, the building has recently undergone extensive cleaning measures. Plus, each line in the building has their own elevator bank; penthouse D only shares one with two other residents, according to the agents.
