This charming upstate barn has enough warmth for a winter weekend at $255 a night
Tons of artfully created details, a wood-burning stove and modern comforts–from rain shower head to reading nooks–add up to a warm welcome at this upstate barn listed on Airbnb for $255 a night. It looks like a perfect escape from city life without having to rough it–and barns are cooler than cabins anyway. The hosts have been at this for a while, so they’ve got all the details covered, including wifi and a programmable smart TV so you don’t have to miss your shows. Set on four-and-a-half acres in the quaint-but-cool town of Tivoli, NY, about 100 miles from New York City in the Hudson River Valley near Bard College, the barn offers five beds on three levels, for up to six guests.
This all-season rustic barn has an open, loft-like floor plan and features carefully considered renovations that involved the work of numerous local artisans. Surrounded by gardens and green space, the grounds include an outdoor shower, a back deck with seating and a grill, a pond, a stream, a small yoga deck, three fire pits and an extra large picnic table.
Heat comes from a highly efficient wood-burning stove, with all the wood provided for you in advance, neatly stacked and ready to go. In the winter months the barn will be heated when you arrive.
A rustic kitchen comes equipped with plates, cups, mugs, utensils and pans. Coffee geeks will be happy to hear there’s a German coffee press, and home chefs will love the SubZero fridge, convection oven, cooktop, and jumbo sink. There’s a brand new gas grill on the deck just outside the kitchen and a fire pit outside as well.
Also on the first floor is a sleeping nook with a piano for accompaniment and a brand-new 10-inch queen-sized Casper mattress on a wood frame that can be used as a day bed or for sleeping. The first floor also offers a full bathroom with a rain shower (bath towels and toiletries are provided). In the library you’ll find books to browse by the cozy wood stove.
On the second floor is a new plush king coil mattress with organic sheets on a wooden bed frame. Here’s where you’ll find the 50-inch smart TV. Also here is a twin “trundle nook” comprised of a trundle bed with coil mattresses (great for kids or couples). Also on the second floor: A full bathroom with a claw foot tub.
Upstairs in the loft, a second 10-inch queen-sized Casper mattress (on the floor, though a “rustic bed frame” is in the works), also with organic sheets. Yet another perk: A spacious curtained dressing room with a large mirror.
The barn has been recommended in the pages of Kinfolk and New York magazines. Also on the property is the boho-chic cabin with a Scandi vibe recently featured by 6sqft .
