Spectacular Upper East Side apartment is enlivened with vivid colors and uncommon shapes
The Upper East Side is home to a plethora of elegant residencies, and the interior of this 79th Street apartment from the design firm S.R. Gambrel is luxury at its best. Each room is impeccably outfitted to tell its own story, individual in point of view, but still fits together into one cohesive aesthetic. From the vivid color palette and wall decor to the ornate light fixtures and floor textiles, everything in this home is vibrant, lively and not to be missed.
The living room is located at the front of the home and is lined with expansive windows flooding the space with wall-to-wall natural light. Neutral tones are used for many of the furnishings as well as the carpet and fireplace. Uncommon shapes dominate the room including an oblong chaise-sofa combo, as well as a pair of Art Deco mirrors framing the fireplace.
The soft tones of the formal living room are a stark contrast to the shiny deep purple wall treatment in the adjacent sitting area. In addition to the saturated walls, the ceiling is finished in a bright red hue complimented by a brightly colored abstract painting that hangs above the couch.
A second softer living room is also packed full of surprising design details but with a far subtler approach. Marble-like pattering can be found in both the carpet and window treatments, and the cool blue sofa stands out against elegant gold wallpaper.
The dinning room is located at opposite end of the second sitting room and features a modern orange table and an Art Deco chandelier.
The orange shade from the living room is carried over into the kitchen and plays up the room’s modern, graphic feel. The tetris-like floor tiling is perfectly paired with a light marble island and modern light fixture.
Additional rooms throughout the home are bathed in different types of luxuries like a fur-covered sitting room and a marble bathroom.
