From 1995 to 2013, Mariano Rivera was a pitching legend for the New York Yankees, ultimately becoming in 2019 the first player ever elected unanimously to the Baseball Hall of Fame. When he and his family moved from Panama in 2000, they relocated to Westchester, not far from the Bronx Bombers’ stadium. Now that his three sons are grown, he and his wife Clara have decided to sell their home in Rye, listing it for $3,995,000. The 13,050-square-foot mansion has nine bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms, as well as perks like a home theater, gym, rec room, massive pool deck, and a gated motor court and four-car garage.
The home is located on a cul-de-sac in Rye, New York, not far from the Westchester Country Club, and about a 30-minute drive to Yankee Stadium.
The Riveras went for a very grand, classical style with coffered ceilings, elaborate moldings and door frames, and large fireplace mantles.
Off the family room is a cozy, wood-paneled sports bar, which Compass tells us is one of Mariano’s favorite places in the home and that he’s loved having friends, family, and teammates over to enjoy the bar.
And off the family room is another wood-paneled room set up as a home office.
The kitchen has floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry, an oversized center island, a butler’s pantry, and an adjacent breakfast room.
The formal dining room has more of the same elegant details and is spacious enough for both a large table and seating nook in the bay window.
Upstairs, the master suite is absolutely enormous, with a fireplace and seating nook. It includes a separate den with another fireplace and a wet bar, a huge walk-in closet, and a luxurious en-suite bathroom with a built-in tub and standing shower and a double vanity flanked in custom cabinetry.
There are also six secondary bedroom suites, all with attached bathrooms.
There’s a finished attic that could serve several purposes and has another bedroom suite.
The rec spaces, including the home theater and gym, are all in the basement, as is a secondary kitchen.
The home is set on a 1.17-acre lot, including a huge terrace around the pool, an outdoor kitchen, and a convenient deck off the kitchen. AÂ gated motor court and a four-car garage round out the package.
