Artist Transforms Decrepit Woodstock Property into a Psychedelic Playground and Home
We know Woodstock, New York is an upstate haven for creative types, but we still had to look twice when we saw this rainbow-colored house gracing its woodsy landscape.
Artist Kat O’Sulllivan, also know as Katwise, is the mastermind behind the psychedelic transformation of this barn-home. When she first purchased the property it was a decrepit looking house from the 1840s, far from the graphic masterpiece that it is today. The exterior of her home boasts a vibrant spectrum of colors and patterns, and the interior is equally spectacular and whimsical.
Each interior room takes on a different color scheme, and there is no lack of diversity when it comes to the creative and out-of-the-box details that are truly the icing on this architectural cake.
In addition to the vibrant paint job (and matching bus!), Sullivan and her partner Mason Brown also added oddly-shaped windows, decorative exterior paneling and–of course!–a bright pink front door. The black trim used around the exterior adds a certain cartoon-like quality, further emphasizing the playful nature of the property and O’Sullivan’s vision.
Kat readily admits that when she first bought the home she was not aware of the sizable job she was getting into. However, with the help of a large group of her friends that she playfully refers to as “ninja elves,” Kat did a bang-up job. Her home is an obvious reflection of her vibrant and playful personality, and there are pictures to prove it. Take a look at some of the adventures Kat and her crew of ninja elves had while renovating this home here.
