ICRAVE Mixes Cedar and Steel to Create This Modern Hamptons Pool House
If you’re spending the holiday weekend out on the Hamptons, chances are you’re in for crowded beaches, bustling restaurants, and high-energy parties. But for those of us looking for something a little more low key, this contemporary pool house and spa by ICRAVE couldn’t be any more perfect (well, except for the fact that we’re not invited over).
The designers were tasked with creating a fresh outdoor space in Amagansett where their clients could entertain, and seeing as ICRAVE is responsible for such hospitality projects as the Borgota casino’s Bask by Exhale Spa and eight STK restaurants, we’re not surprised that the result is so flawless. A mix of natural cedar and industrial steel, the pool house is a modern oasis, highlighted by the central pool.
The structure, which is scaled to the length of the pool, is comprised of three separate but open living areas. The central, sunken entertainment area lines up with the hot tub and boasts a dark steel fireplace, grill, and oversized carved wooden daybed and ottoman. It’s covered by a roof overhang that extends from the two enclosed cedar-shingled cubes flanking it. These pods hold a bedroom and a spa, and their floor-to-ceiling glass corners offer the option to remain open or closed off for privacy.
The natural and serene bedroom features breezy white curtains, eye-catching brass Moroccan pendant lights, and pops of blue (in the beach scene painting and pillows) to bring the pool’s hues inside.
The spa looks like something straight out of a five-star hotel. According to Contemporist, “The Jacuzzi Sasha made by Purificare and designed by Alberto Apostoli features three pre-designed modules in a maple wood palette, including a sauna, shower, and hammam option.”
