Mediterranean-Style CarRem Trolley Lets Restaurant Guests Pick Fresh Herbs at the Table
Andreu Carulla runs his own multidisciplinary design studio in a natural setting just an hour away from Barcelona. And that organic location serves as inspiration for his amazing designs, including the ingenious CarRem, a mobile herb garden designed to hold food, drinks, and plants, allowing guests at the table to choose and enjoy the taste of freshly plucked herbs. An innovative idea with a minimal aesthetic, this stylish trolley reflects the designer’s Mediterranean lifestyle.
Andreu Carulla’s designs combine art and technology mixed with an inherent Mediterranean style. Custom-made for local Vilar Restaurant–but perfectly suited for any chic home–CarRem holds food, drinks, and their seasonings, as well as the wine cooler. The main idea is that restaurant guests can choose the herb they prefer right from the plant and enjoy its flavor and aroma in the freshest way possible.
There are two different models of this functional trolley: the cocktail model holds a couple of ice buckets and two herbs that will enrich the drink; the food model holds up to five aromatic herbs for complementing the restaurant’s delicious dishes according to every customer’s taste. Featuring a wheelbarrow-like structure, its top is made from glass, the tubes are medal colors (gold, silver and bronze) and the handlebars are made of antique rowing paddles that provide good stability and a sustainable aesthetic.
