Applications are now being accepted for 119 newly constructed apartments in the South Bronx. Located at 980 Westchester Avenue in Foxhurst, the seven-story mixed-use building is being developed by Atlantic Building Ventures and designed by GF55 Partners. New Yorkers earning 40, 50, 60, and 70 percent of the area median income can apply for the apartments, which range from $362/month studios to $1,760/month three-bedrooms.

Owned and managed by The Doe Fund, the apartment building offers an abundance of amenities including an on-site resident super, community room, outdoor terrace, and 24-hour security. The ground floor of the building includes a number of different sized retail spaces for use by local businesses.

The apartments feature high-quality vinyl tile with porcelain tiles in the bathroom, kitchens with wood cabinets, laminate countertops, stainless steel sinks, and a stainless steel appliance package with a four-burner electric stove. In addition to the amenities mentioned, the building includes a bike room, computer lab, and card-operated laundry room. It is in close proximity to the 2, 5, and 6 trains, as well as the BX4 and BX6 buses. Several restaurants and a mall are nearby.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units until February 10, 2022. Fifty percent of the units are set aside for residents of Bronx Community Board 2. Complete details on how to apply are available here. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
