Designed by Edelman Sultan Knox Wood, the 66-unit, eight-story building will be almost 52,000 square feet in total. The building’s amenities include on-site laundry, a backyard garden, 24-hour security and an indoor recreational space.
Despite being the tallest building on the block, the architects paid careful attention to the building’s surroundings to stay in character with the neighborhood. The building has a brick facade and a private court entrance. Additionally, there are solar panels on the 8th floor with plans to develop a sustainable building model that can be the basis for future developments.
Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units at 918 East New York Avenue until June 15, 2018. Fifty percent of the units will be set aside for residents of Brooklyn Community Board 9. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
