When it comes to the city’s affordable housing lotteries, many of the same neighborhoods seem to pop up over and over again, so it’s always refreshing to see a new area come online, like this opportunity for 23 units in Brooklyn Heights. Available to New Yorkers earning 40, 60, or 130 percent of the area median income, the apartments are located at The Pierrepont, a recently completed luxury rental designed by local favorite Marvel Architects. The affordable units range from $596/month studios to $2,993/month two-bedrooms.

The development is comprised of two 19-story towers, one on Pierrepont Street and the other on Montague. They’re connected by a two-story retail base.
Residents have access to building amenities including a fitness center with meditation and yoga rooms, resident lounge, roof terrace, children’s playroom, and laundry room. Plus, the building, located at 146 Pierrepont Street between Cadman Plaza West and Clinton Street, is just a block away from the 2,3 trains at Borough Hall and the R at Court Street and a quick walk to the A,C,F at Jay Street-Metro Tech. It’s also right across from Columbus Park and a few blocks to Cadman Plaza Park and Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The apartments have large windows letting in lots of natural light, as well as high-end, modern appliances and finishes including in-unit washer/dryers. Pricing has not yet been released for the 63 market-rate units, but leasing is expected to launch on March 1st, according to CityRealty.
Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable apartments at 146 Pierrepont Street until March 27, 2019. Fifty percent of units are reserved for residents of Brooklyn Community Board 2. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
