227 COOKFOX-designed affordable apartments up for grabs near the NY Botanical Garden and Bronx Zoo
Starting today, 227 brand new affordable apartments are up for grabs at 4275 Park Avenue in the Bronx. The residence, dubbed Park House, is a new construction designed by COOKFOX Architects and developed by Breaking Ground, a non-profit organization that matches low-income New Yorkers with homes. Park House is the first affordable project undertaken by the organization and will offer energy-efficient studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments priced between $494 and $1181 to qualifying applicants earning between 40 and 60 percent of the area median income.
Per Breaking Ground, the building will feature a 24-hour security/attended lobby, a landscaped courtyard, on-site laundry, a community space, green roof, as well as a slew of energy-efficient features integrated into each unit and the building, making this a “biophilic” design.
The COOKFOX building is replacing a former brownfield site and is in close proximity to Fordham University (to its northeast) and less than a 30-minute’s walk from the city’s beloved NY Botanical Garden and Bronx Zoo.
Local transit includes the Metro North (Tremont–Harlem Line), B/D subway trains access, and bus service via the Bx36, Bx 40, Bx41, Bx41-SBS, Bx 4.
Applicants meeting the above income requirements have until April 17, 2017 to apply. Residents of Bronx Community Board 6 will be given preference for 50 percent of the units. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
