George and Amal Clooney snag high-floor condo in Norman Foster’s Midtown tower
The Clooneys are moving to Midtown. Sources tell the Post that the power couple has just purchased an apartment at the glassy Norman Foster-designed One Hundred East Fifty Third Street. The pair had apparently toured the $65 million, two-floor penthouse but ultimately opted for something a bit more modest on a lower but still high floor.
Although it’s not clear which unit George and Amal will be moving into, current availabilities outside the penthouse range from studios to three-bedrooms priced between $2.6 million and $14.75 million.
The property, which is being developed by Aby Rosen, is currently under construction and is slated for completion next year. Tower apartments have been designed with wide-plank white oak flooring and 11-foot ceilings, and many will boast sweeping city views. Amenities will include a two-story marketplace and restaurant by Michelin-starred French chef Joel Robuchon, 24-hour attended lobby, a library, lounges and “hotel-like” services that include a wellness center, spa, 60-foot sunlit swimming pool, yoga and pilates rooms.
The Post writes that the Clooneys were drawn to the tower’s design and amenities and its location near the United Nations. Amal, as many know, is a renowned human rights lawyer and she is currently on faculty at Columbia University teaching international human rights law.
The pair also own several other properties worldwide, including a villa in Como, Italy and an estate in England.
