A penthouse on New York City’s Billionaires’ Row has sold for $74.34 million, the highest closed sale of 2022 so far. Taking up the entirety of the 20th floor of the Aman New York, a new hotel and residential project at the iconic Crown Building on Fifth Avenue, the home measures over 6,700 square feet and features a private saltwater swimming pool, cabana, and two terraces. The apartment–dubbed the “Jala Penthouse”–was originally listed for $83.53 million.
The penthouse, which boasts its own private elevator lobby, has four bedrooms and five full baths. Through the grand foyer, you’ll find the huge living and dining areas with prime views of Central Park and the Upper East Side.
The eat-in kitchen features a large center island, natural stone floor, polished quartzite countertops, and Gaggenau appliances. A service elevator and pantry are located off the kitchen.
In the palatial primary suite, there are two walk-in closets and a bathroom with a freestanding soaking tub, steam shower, and radiant heated floors. Off the main bedroom is a private terrace with one of the home’s two jacuzzis.
A wraparound outdoor terrace with a saltwater pool and hot tub completes the luxury digs.
The buyer was not identified but according to the New York Post, the new owner is foreign. Patricia Vance of Douglas Elliman represented the anonymous buyer; the sale was handled by Amie Buchanan, Global Director of Residences for Aman. This sale beats out this year’s previous record holder, a full-floor penthouse at 432 Park Avenue that fetched $70.5 million.
Located on Fifth Avenue and 57th Street across from Trump Tower, Aman New York sits within the restored, 100-year-old Crown Building. Reimagined by architect Jean-Michel Gathy, the tower includes an 83-key hotel, opening on August 2, and 22 private residences, which have a separate entrance from the hotel on 56th Street.
Residents have access to the hotel amenities, including a 14th-floor sky lobby with piano bar, a members club and cigar lounge with an outdoor terrace overlooking Central Park, three restaurants, and the Aman Spa, three floors of wellness amenities, from an indoor swimming pool and fitness studios to hair and cosmetic salons.
