Ruggie: An Alarm Clock-Rug That Only Stops Buzzing if You Step on It
Tired of sleeping through the snooze every morning, hitting the button over and over again to only wake up sleepier? Then you might want to consider Ruggie, an efficient alarm clock-rug by Winson Tam that will only stop buzzing if you actually get out of bed and step firmly on it. And to help ease the pain of leaving the warmth of the covers, it will then play daily motivational quotes, setting a positive mood for the day.
The product is essentially a high-density memory foam carpet with an embedded touch sensor and alarm that will only stop ringing once the dreamer gets out of bed and steps on it with both feet for at least three seconds. It’s also possible to add other ring tones, specific quotes, or tasks to be achieved through a USB connection. Just plug it into your computer and an easy-to-use software will pop up.
Tam is an entrepreneur born in Hong Kong and raised in Vancouver, but currently lives in China developing gadgets to help people make the most out of their time. Ruggie’s concept arose when he figured out that by waking only five minutes ahead of schedule each day, we can add up to 100 more days to our life – assuming we live until the age of 80.
