Juno Jeon’s Bedside Table Has Scales That Act Like a Living Creature

July 22, 2016

We interact with our furniture everyday–when we sit on a couch or open a drawer–but most of the time we don’t even think about it. To make those interactions more visible (and fun) designer Juno Jeon creates ordinary objects with a surprising twist. One example is Pull Me to Life, a wooden bedside table complete with scales that react when in use.

Juno Jeon is a Korean designer based in the Netherlands. Pull Me to Life was created after the designer asked himself, “What if all objects in my room were alive?” How would they behave, move and respond to human needs? His conclusion was that really makes something look alive is not just ordinary movements, but something unexpected and surprising.

The table features a dense grid of scale-like plates that flick when the draw is pulled and again when it’s pushed back.
