Live in Trendy Williamsburg for $563/Month, Lottery Launching for 149 Kent Apartments
Williamsburg became unaffordable a long time ago, but if you’re still looking to get in on the trendy Brooklyn action, this may be your chance. According to the NYC HDC, the affordable housing lottery for 149 Kent Avenue will launch on Wednesday, giving those who meet the income requirements a shot at 33 brand-new apartments ranging from $563/month studios to $926/month two-bedroom units. And they’re just two blocks away from East River State Park (aka the home to Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg).

L&M Development purchased the site back in 2012 for nearly $20 million, drawing up plans to replace a one-story carpet warehouse with this seven-story brick building designed by GF55 Partners. It will have 164 units, and its retail base will be known as the Shops at 149 Kent and will occupy 17,800 square feet of ground-floor retail space with basement storage.
Building amenities include a live-in super, laundry rooms, entertainment lounge, fitness room, community terrace, and rooftop lounge.
The affordable units range from a $563/month studio for one person earning between $19,303 and $24,200 annually to six $926/month two-bedroom units for two, three, or four people earning between $31,749 and $43,150. No word yet on the market-rate units. If you qualify, apply for 149 Kent Avenue here.
