An inconspicuous locksmith and shoe repair storefront on the Upper East Side is actually home to a chic cocktail lounge. Located at 1488 Second Avenue, the speakeasy Keys & Heels comes from Massimo Lusardi, the restauranteur behind Uva and Uva Next Door. Hidden behind the facade of a locksmith and shoe repair store, Keys & Heels features a creative cocktail menu and a food menu that complements the bar’s “low-key” ambiance.
The bar’s drink menu features creative, original cocktails as well as unique twists on classic concoctions. A highlight includes the keys spritz bomb, a cocktail made with Alb Vodka, guava nectar, Starlino apertivo, and prosecco. For those looking for spice, the pretty little psycho consists of Tanteo habanero infused tequila, raspberry liqueur, fresh lime juice, and agave nectar.
Food options include in-house-made focaccia served warm with honey, ricotta, and black pepper whip. Another menu highlight is the Parmigiano rocks, chunks of Parmigiano cheese served with housemade truffle honey, and fig balsamic.
The interior is intimate and sophisticated, featuring velvet, fringe, and dim light of vintage lamps to set the mood and create a relaxing atmosphere. The bar requests patrons to dress sharp; baseball caps, beanies, sports jerseys, and running shoes are not allowed.
The space can be reserved for private events with flexible options for food and drink menus, live music, and other addons. Walk-in guests are welcome, and reservations can be made here.
Keys & Heels is currently opened Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 6 p.m. till late. Private and house events are hosted from Sunday to Wednesday.
