300-foot-tall Ferris wheel with views of NYC to open at NJ’s American Dream mega-mall

New Jersey’s American Dream mega-mall and Skyviews of America on Wednesday announced the opening date for Dream Wheel, a 300-foot tall Ferris wheel with incredible views of the Manhattan skyline, the Hudson River, and the New Jersey Meadowlands. The Dream Wheel, which can hold 16 passengers at a time during a 30-minute ride, will open to the public on April 13.
“American Dream provides our guests with exhilarating experiences unrivaled anywhere else in the world,” Don Ghermezian, CEO of American Dream, said in a statement.
“The Dream Wheel is no exception as no other destination offers these remarkable views of Manhattan, the Hudson River and the New Jersey Meadowlands. It is sure to be loved by locals and tourists alike as it becomes an iconic New Jersey landmark.”
The Ferris wheel was designed by BUSSINK and built by the Dutch company Breman Mega Wheels, according to NJ.com.
The Dream Wheel features temperature-controlled gondolas to ensure each rider’s comfort regardless of the weather. Guests can buy a variety of sweet treats from Deep Fried Love, a food vendor offering classic confections like deep-fried Oreos, Nutella funnel cake, and fried twinkies, and are encouraged to bring their treats along with them for the ride.
American Dream is a three-million-square-foot mega-mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey featuring an indoor ski slope, water park, and much more. Construction began on the $5 billion development in 2005 but hit a number of roadblocks over the years with construction being halted until 2016. In 2019, the mall partially opened with its first phase of attractions, including an ice rink and a Nickolodeon amusement park.
In September 2021, American Dream’s upscale retail and dining wing opened after months of delay due to the pandemic. The 300,000 square foot hall features a two-level Saks Fifth Avenue store, the first of its kind in the state.
The Dream Wheel will be open seven days a week for general admission and can be booked for VIP experiences and private events. According to NJ.com, tickets will cost $29 for adults and $20 for children. Pre-sale tickets can be purchased here.
