Reservations are now open at more than 440 local restaurants participating in New York City Restaurant Week this winter. The biannual program, which was first introduced 30 years ago, offers New Yorkers a chance to dine at highly acclaimed restaurants at a discounted price. Running from January 18 through February 13, the 2022 winter Restaurant Week includes prix-fixe deals for two-course lunches or three-course dinners for $29, $39, or $59, depending on the restaurant.
Last January, NYC & Company, the city’s tourist agency, launched NYC Restaurant Week to Go, adapting the program to serve bargain meals for takeout, delivery, and outdoor dining in response to Covid. This past summer, the program returned in full force with over 500 restaurants participating.
This year, hundreds of restaurants are offering a discounted dining experience across all five boroughs. Find a full list of participating restaurants here, some of which are grouped by categories like “Date Night,” “The Great Outdoors,” “James Beard Honorees,” “NYC Classics,” “Order at the Bar,” and others.
Some notable participants of this year’s Restaurant Week include Chef Daniel Boulud’s Boulud Sud and Bar Boulud, French-Mediterranean restaurant Cathédrale, Midtown’s Casa Limone, Thai favorite Fish Cheeks, and many more.
The program also includes 10 restaurants that participated in the first-ever NYC Restaurant Week in 1992: Ambassador Grill & Lounge, Barbetta, Docks Oyster Bar, Gallaghers Steakhouse, The Russian Tea Room, Sylvia’s Restaurant, Tavern on the Green, Tribeca Grill, Union Square Cafe, and Victor’s Cafe.
“NYC Restaurant Week has become a treasured tradition. I’ve participated since the first one in 1992,” Chef David Burke, who also serves as the co-chair of the NYC & Company Culinary Committee said. “It’s always been a tremendous way for people to experience restaurants they’ve never been to, including some of the top restaurants in the world, by making them so accessibly priced.”
“This year it takes on a new role as being the perfect reason for people to connect and communicate in person over a great meal, while supporting the hard-hit restaurant industry.”
The program falls under NYC & Company’s NYC Winter Outing initiative, aimed at encouraging New Yorkers to visit local restaurants and attractions. NYC Broadway Week is back after a two-year pandemic-related hiatus, offering 2-for-1 tickets to 18 shows. NYC Must-See Week lets guests book 2-for-1 tickets to 45 museums, performing arts shows, and tours. And as part of NYC Hotel Week, more than 110 hotels across the city will offer 22 percent off standard retail rates.
Note, everyone aged five and older must provide proof of vaccination for indoor activities in New York City.
“We are pleased to bring NYC Winter Outing back this year, with safety at the forefront thanks to the City’s Key to NYC requirements,” Fred Dixon, president and CEO at NYC & Company, said. “The program offers exceptional deals on dining, Broadway, arts and culture, performing arts, tours and hotels, during a time with less crowds. We encourage locals and visitors to show their support for businesses big and small across all five boroughs by booking these only-in-New York City experiences now.”
