Starting next week, commuters from Staten Island will have another way to get to Manhattan. Launching Monday, August 23, the newest NYC Ferry route takes riders up the Hudson River for the first time and stops in Midtown West, with a total travel time of about 35 minutes from St. George. With this latest route, NYC Ferry now officially serves all five boroughs.
The new St. George route launches from the ferry terminal on Staten Island and makes stops at Battery Park City and Midtown West at Pier 79 on West 39th Street. The trip from the northern tip of Staten Island to Battery Park City takes about 18 minutes and then an extra 17 minutes to reach Midtown West.
A 25-minute walk from the landing at Battery Park City to Pier 11/ Wall Street connects commuters to other NYC Ferry routes.
Ferry trips cost $2.75 one-way and $121 for 30 days. Riders can purchase tickets by downloading the NYC Ferry app or at the ticket vending machines found at every ferry landing.
The free Staten Island Ferry remains an option for those looking to travel to Lower Manhattan. As 6sqft reported this week, the ferry, which takes riders to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal, resumed full, round-the-clock service on Sunday for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic.
