A housing lottery opened this week for 95 affordable apartments at a newly constructed rental tower in the “city outside the city.” Located at 14 LeCount Place in downtown New Rochelle, the 27-story luxury building is the latest mixed-use development to rise in the bustling Westchester city. Eligible applicants must earn 50 or 70 percent of the area median income, between $44,650 annually for a one-person household and $89,250 annually for a four-person household. Applications are now being accepted for studios, one-, and two-bedroom apartments, ranging in price from $1,082/month to $1,953/month.
Developed by L+M Development Partners and Wilder Balter Partners, the high-rise rental includes 380 total units, with 95 of them affordable and 285 priced at market rate. The design from Beyer Blinder Belle features two glass and masonry towers atop a four-story podium. The project is scheduled to open sometime this fall.
In addition to the 6,200 square feet of ground-floor retail space, amenities at 14 LeCount Place include an outdoor pool on the 25th floor overlooking the Long Island Sound, two terraces, free parking, a dog run, a gym with indoor and outdoor areas, bike storage, children’s playroom, and several lounges.
Spacious apartments come with stainless steel appliances, vinyl flooring, lots of closet space, tenant-controlled heat and air conditioning, and in-unit laundry.
The development’s convenient location, in the center of downtown and just two blocks from the city’s Metro-North and Amtrak station, is definitely one of its biggest perks. Grand Central Terminal is just 40 minutes away by train.
