New York City’s highest outdoor observation deck has a special treat for lovebirds this Valentine’s Day. For that one day, Edge will be opening at 6am, allowing visitors the rare opportunity to watch the sunrise from 1,131 feet in the air. In addition, from February 12th-21st, the Hudson Yards attraction will extend its daily hours from 8am to 10pm (perhaps to accommodate an expected rush of proposals?).

Edge, which is actually the highest outdoor observation deck in the entire western hemisphere, officially opened on March 11th of last year, meaning it had to close just two days later. However, it was able to reopen in September, operating at 25-percent capacity with many new safety protocols in place.

Edge extends from the 100th and 101st floors of 30 Hudson Yards. The entrance is connected to Peak, Hudson Yards’ 101st-floor restaurant and event space. From the deck, guests can enjoy 360-degree views of NYC through the angled glass walls. Thrill-seekers can also stand atop a glass-floor and look down.

Throughout the pandemic, Edge has taken advantage of its safe, outdoor location and offered special events like yoga classes in the summer and a twinkling light show for the holidays.

For Valentine’s Day, those lucky enough to score tickets for Sunday, February 14th, have the option to purchase a special champagne ticket (you can also upgrade to rosé champagne to get that romantic, pink effect!) or enjoy a cozy “Cupid’s Cocoa,” a creamy hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and a red and pink sprinkled rice crispy treat.

Tickets for sunrise access on Valentine’s Day go on sale February 8th at 12pm EST via https://edgenyc.com/en/valentines. Sunrise tickets are $100. General admission tickets are $36 if purchased in advance ($34 for NYC residents).
