New store selling all Brooklyn-made goods opening at Industry City
What started as a Brooklyn-themed holiday pop-up will now operate year-round. The 1,200-square-foot marketplace Brooklyn Made will open in Sunset Park’s Industry City this month, with over 50 Brooklyn-based vendors selling merchandise, artwork, beauty products, houseware, and more. The shop will open in Industry City’s Innovation Alley on Thursday, May 18.
The store is a permanent version of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s successful holiday pop-up market that debuted last year. Some of the vendors who appeared in the holiday market will become a part of Brooklyn Made, including husband-and-wife tea sommelier duo Brooklyn Tea, and apparel store The Collective at IndigoStyle. In selecting the store’s vendors, the Chamber prioritized BIPOC makers, designers, and small businesses across Brooklyn.
“We are proud to promote our borough’s best ‘makers’ at this retail storefront, which showcases the tenacity and ingenuity of small-business owners across Brooklyn,” Randy Peers, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, said. “This retail store recognizes the brightest creators and artisans in a way that helps small, diverse businesses grow. New York City is back, and Brooklyn is leading the way!”
Each month, one Brooklyn-based business will be featured in the “Maker of the Month” spotlight program. The first “Meet the Maker” event will kick off at the shop’s launch party on May 19 at 5 p.m. The party will feature live music from DJ Barry Blends.
Brooklyn Made will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
