New food hall Jacx & Co opens at massive Long Island City office complex
As New York City restaurants continue to face an uncertain future, a new food hall in Queens is defying the odds. The Jacx & Co opened on Wednesday at 28-17 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City, part of a mega-development from Tishman Speyer. The opening line up of eateries includes a mix of established NYC vendors and some newbies, including Crif Dogs, Beebe’s, Taïm, Fieldtrip, Ghaya, Lotus + Cleaver, and Méxology.
“In designing and curating JACX&CO, we took our inspiration from the vibrant culture of the surrounding neighborhood with its diverse people, forward-looking art museums, and versatile dining experiences,” Daniel Cabrera, Jacx & Co’s general manager, said. “We’re honored to partner with these eateries and chefs to bring amazing food and an inviting gathering space for friends, family, co-workers and visitors in Long Island City.”
Designed by INC Architecture & Design and Tishman Speyer, the food hall’s dining room is meant to resemble an airy courtyard with its high ceilings and mix of industrial design elements, including terra cotta, reclaimed wood, and exposed concrete. At full capacity, the dining room can seat 215. But with state coronavirus restrictions in place, indoor dining will be capped at 25 percent.
Jacx & Co sits at the base of The Jacx, a two-tower development that contains over one million square feet of office space, with major tenants like Macy’s and WeWork. The complex sits across from the trio of luxury residential buildings developed by Tishman Speyer called Jackson Park.

The food hall will be open for lunch and dinner Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the cafe at Ghaya open starting at 7 a.m. Limited-capacity indoor dining, takeout, and delivery will be available, with outdoor dining expected to open in the future.
The following nine eateries will be featured at Jacx & Co:
- Méxology: Mexican food from Ivy Stark, chef of Dos Caminos and Rosa Mexicano.
- Taïm: The “Queen of falafel” with Israeli-inspired Mediterranean street food.
- Lotus + Cleaver: A fast-casual Chinese restaurant from the team behind Thai restaurant Wayla and Kimika.
- Beebe’s: Pizzeria serving classic NYC thin-crust pies and Italian dishes.
- Fieldtrip: The rice-centric eatery, which was founded by James Beard-Award winning chef JJ Johnson last year, will offer bowls with a variety of global rice options.
- Ghaya: An all-day cafe from notable pastry chef Ghaya Oliveria who mixes her Tunisian roots and French training to serve sweet treats.
- Crif Dogs: The East Village staple brings its inventive hot dogs and burgers to LIC.
- Kissaki: Expect traditional omakase sushi and kaiseki dishes from this NYC favorite.
- Al Volo: From the same team behind LIC’s pizza spot Levante, Al Volo will sell paninis, pasta, and more.
A full-service bar that will offer local beer and wine, as well as a cocktail menu that will complement the various culinary concepts of the food hall, is in the works.
