Eataly’s 14th-floor rooftop in the Flatiron District has been transformed into a blooming greenhouse. Opening on Friday, Serra Fiorita by Birreria will bring Italian summer to Manhattan with a seasonal menu, build-your-own gin drinks, and a flowery decor inspired by a 3D paper book. Tables will be distanced, capacity will be limited, and reservations can be made on OpenTable to avoid crowding.

The seasonal menu features offerings from regional farmers, including the Norwich Meadows Farm upstate and Lani’s Farm in New Jersey, as well as Italian producers. Plates inspired by an Italian summer will include local vegetables and antipasti with raw seasonal produce from the local Greenmarket with a fava bean puree.

The summer beverage menu is centered around Malfy Gin, an Italian gin from Piedmont. Serra Fiorita will boast a build-your-own Gin and Tonics with a gin cart. Visitors will be able to select a flavor of gin, tonic, and fresh garnish, including cucumbers, lemon, and edible flowers.

The restaurant is also launching a “Cene Fiorite” or flower dinner, where the chef will teach diners how all parts of a flower can be used in cooking. The dedicated bi-weekly menu will be paired with select wine and cocktails. The Cene Fiorite will launch officially on August 13.

All CDC protocol will be followed, with hand sanitizing stations set up, tables spaced out with dividers, and frequently sanitized tables and utensils. Guests should wear face coverings before and after eating and use cashless payment when possible.

The rooftop officially reopens on August 7, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Eataly also recently opened an outdoor patio in Flatiron, il Patio di Eataly- La Costa, which offers a L’Aperitivo Regionale, a weekly stand-alone menu of wines and seasonal dishes from a specific region in Italy.
