NYC’s latest Whole Foods store opens at new Hudson Yards development

New York City’s newest Whole Foods Market opened in Hudson Yards on Friday, becoming the grocery store chain’s 14th Big Apple location. Located at 450 West 33rd Street, the market sits on the ground level of 5 Manhattan West, a 15-story office tower that is part of the six-building complex Manhattan West. The new Whole Foods measures more than 60,200 square feet and features a number of local vendors, like Threes Brewing, Café Grumpy, and Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, as well as a spacious set up for outdoor dining.

According to Whole Foods, their newest location features more than 500 products from 200 local suppliers. Products from local tri-state businesses sold at the store include beauty and body care from Brooklyn Press, Shea Radiance, LUX Naturals, craft beer from Threes Brewing, baked goods from Ocka Treats, Abe’s Muffins, and Mo’Pweeze Bakery, and meat from Simply Grazin’ and The Meat Hook.

Plus, there are a number of to-go dining options including vegan Mexican cuisine from Jajaja, coffee from Café Grumpy, and plant-based ice cream from Sunscoop.
The grocery store is also hopping on the cocktails-to-go bandwagon. A new bar called West Side Corner is offering takeout alcoholic beverages paired with cheeseboards with jam and rosemary crackers from Beecher’s, Crown Finish Caves, BRINS, and Top Seedz.
A 40,000-square-foot food hall designed by David Rockwell is set to open at the building, 6sqft learned last December. Operated by hospitality company sbe, “Citizens” will include two full-service restaurants, bars, and a fast-casual market.
When the construction of Manhattan West is completed, the complex, which stretches between 31st and 33rd Streets from 9th to 10th Avenues, will contain six million square feet of office space, 844 residences, a hotel, 200,000 square feet of retail, and a two-acre public plaza.
