A lottery has opened for 13 income-restricted apartments at a new rental located on the border of Crown Heights and Brownsville in Brooklyn. Designed by Samuel Wieder Architects, the seven-story mixed-use building at 2175 Bergen Street contains 38 total residences and boasts amenities like a fitness center, backyard, and bike room. New Yorkers earning 40, 60, 80, and 130 percent of the area median income can apply for the one- and two-bedroom apartments, priced between $800/month and $2,100/month.
As CityRealty reported last year, the building boasts a brick facade, floor-to-ceiling windows, and terraces at some units. The section of the neighborhood is industrial, but still boasts a number of restaurants and convenience stores.
Nearest transit options include the L train at New York and Atlantic Avenues and the C train at Rockaway and Fulton Avenues. The building is also just a 10-minute walk from Broadway Junction, a major transfer point with access to the A, C, J, L, and Z trains and the Long Island Rail Road.
Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units at 2175 Bergen Street until July 13, 2020. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Preference for 50 percent of the units will be given to residents of Brooklyn Community Board 16. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
If you don’t qualify for the housing lotteries mentioned, visit CityRealty’s no-fee rentals page for other apartment deals in the city.
