A lottery launched on Thursday for 110 affordable senior apartments in the Queens neighborhood of Jamaica. The 10-story building located at 161-11 132nd Avenue sits next to existing low-income senior apartments and contains 100 one-bedrooms and 58 studios. To apply, New Yorkers must be–or have at least one household member who is– 62 years of age or older, qualify for Section 8 benefits, and earn $51, 200 or less, annually.

The site, dubbed the Northeastern Towers Annex, includes amenities for residents like a community room, media room, wellness center, laundry on each floor, a library, a landscaped rooftop, and 90 parking spaces. On-site social services will be provided by the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee.

It sits across the street from Baisley Pond Park, which has a number of ball courts and paths to walk and cycle. Transit options include the Q111 and Q114.

The project was designed by SMA Architecture and developed in coordination with the city’s Housing Preservation and Development, the Housing Development Corporation, the Northeastern Conference of Seventh Day Adventists, Fifth Avenue Committee, and Mega Contracting. The building is 100 percent affordable for low-and very-low-income residents.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units until June 24, 2020. Complete details on how to apply are available here (pdf). Preference for 50 percent of the units will be given to residents of Queens. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.

If you don’t qualify for the housing lotteries mentioned, visit CityRealty.com’s no-fee rentals page for other apartment deals in the city.
