Cobble Hill got a little more green with the opening of The Sill‘s first brick-and-mortar in Brooklyn (they also have a recently opened kiosk at City Point). The outpost at 195 Pacific Street features an apartment-friendly collection of succulents, cacti, and tropical plants that can be potted in the store’s own line of planters or purchased on their own. And to make it easy for newbies, each plant has straight-forward labels that you know how much sunlight and water it needs, as well as if it’s pet-friendly.
“I’ve been dying to open a store in Brooklyn” said Eliza Blank, The Sill’s CEO & Founder. “New York is in our DNA; it’s where we were founded and is the reason why we exist – to make space for greenery in an otherwise ultra-urban setting. We are thrilled to extend our footprint to Brooklyn and offer local residents the ability to connect with plants regardless of their skill level. We welcome seasoned plant parents and novices alike.”
The location is the company’s fifth store. The first NYC flagship opened in 2014 at 84 Hester Street, followed by an Upper West Side store at 448 Amsterdam Avenue. In 2019, The Sill expanded to the West Coast, with two stores in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
