Free cannolis and major pastry discounts for Veniero’s 125th anniversary celebration

A longtime Italian pastry shop is celebrating its 125th anniversary this month and celebrating in the best way possible: free cannolis. Family-owned and operated since 1894, Veniero’s has grown from a small immigrant-owned candy shop in the East Village to a New York City institution, selling more than 150 desserts today. On Monday, Sept. 23, the bakery will offer free mini cannolis (while supplies last), live music, and a discount of 18.94 percent on all orders, according to Time Out.

In 1894, Antonio Veniero first opened a candy shop on East 11th Street, later serving espresso and biscotti. By the end of the 1920s, he hired master bakers from Sicily to take over the kitchen to make pastries and the rest is history.
From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the anniversary celebration will be hosted by comedian Eddie Brill and includes live music from the Creswell Club.
“I’m so proud and honored that our once little Italian bakery is part of the great city of New York for the last 125 years,” Robert Zerilli, owner of Veniero’s, said. “Veniero’s success lies with our exceptional history with the neighborhood which drives us to uphold our excellent reputation.”
