The crowds at this weekend’s WorldPride events are expected to break records, with an estimated 4.5 million people attending Sunday’s Pride March, including 115,000 marchers. The MTA is showing its Pride this weekend by making it easier for you to join the festivities. We can finally share some good weekend service news: the authority is suspending all L train tunnel rehabilitation work this weekend and will increase service on other lines to accommodate all revelers. If you want to secure a spot on the Parade route, make sure you get there early as they’re sure to fill up fast.

Additional Service:

According to the MTA, “given the expected high attendance for this major international event and the fact that L project construction is ahead of schedule, L trains will run at normal, pre-project levels of weekend service” on Saturday and Sunday, instead of every 20 minutes. That means L trains will roll in roughly every 4 minutes during the day and every 4-10 minutes at night.

1 service will operate every 6 minutes instead of every 8 minutes on Sunday.

C service will operate every 8 minutes instead of every 10 minutes on Sunday.

W service, which does not normally operate on weekends, will run from Ditmars Blvd to Whitehall St between 9 AM and 7 PM on Sunday.

Adjusted service:

D will make all local stops on 6 Av between W 4 St and 34 St-Herald Sq on Sunday between 11 AM and midnight on Sunday, to provide additional service to 14 St-6 Av and 23 St-6 Av in place of the M.

M service will run a normal weekend schedule, operating from Middle Village-Metropolitan Av to Delancey St-Essex St every 10 minutes during peak times, Saturday and Sunday, instead of running up to 96 St-2 Av.

G service will operate on a normal weekend schedule every 10 minutes during peak times, Saturday and Sunday.

Other changes:

Some stairs at the 23 Street 1 station may be designated as entrance-only or exit-only. Other stations may be subject to similar designations throughout the day.

M14A/D buses will be rerouted from the Pride March path along 14th Street on Houston Street for most of its route. Eastbound M14 A/D buses will be rerouted via Houston Street from 3 Avenue to West Street. Westbound M14 A/D buses will be rerouted via Houston St from 9 Avenue to 3 Avenue.
