Month-long ‘winterfest’ and holiday market coming to the Brooklyn Museum

Brooklyn is getting a new winter festival and market this holiday season full of family-fun events, shopping, wine and beer tastings, and more. Dubbed WinterFest, the pop-up will take over 40,000 square feet of outdoor space at the Brooklyn Museum from Nov. 23 to Dec. 31 and feature more than 50 holiday-decorated wooden chalets with local crafts and handmade gifts inside.
Attractions planned include a giant snowglobe, a maze of lights, a holiday scavenger hunt, a winter-themed bounce, and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will also be chocolate tastings at the Candy Dome and chances to buy mulled wine, hot chocolate, and other seasonal goodies.
“Not only will this create a marquee holiday attraction for Brooklyn, but also benefit local entrepreneurs and cultural groups alike,” Melanie Duault of Masai Marketing, one of the partners in the event, said in a press release, the Bridge reported.
Live entertainment will be a staple of the festival, with performances from local bands, holiday carolers, and dance troupes. According to the festival’s website, Wednesdays are movie night and Thursdays are “karaoke special.”
WinterFest organizers released its list of vendors ahead of its opening on Nov. 23. Some highlights include Singaporean-style Lion City Coffee, African-inspired fashion at Afrodesiac WorldWide, luxurious knitwear at Alma, and handcrafted jewels from Grace Oliver.
Food vendors range from Hells Kitchen Hot Sauce and Anton’s Dumplings to Miss Tea Brooklyn and Wafels & Dinges.
