7 train service suspension planned on Comic-Con weekend and other subway woes

Among other bad news – including the fact that the L train will hardly be running on weekends for the rest of October – the fact that the 7 train service will be suspended between Queensboro Plaza and Hudson Yards, making Comic-Con much more difficult to access than it would usually be, stands out as beyond poor planning. But the MTA on Friday did map out multiple transit alternatives to make your 7-less trip not so bad, including overnight shuttle service at 42nd Street, shuttle buses running every five minutes, and special (and discounted) Long Island Rail Road service that will get customers between Manhattan and Citi Field. Here’s the lot of it…
Wakefield-bound 2 trains run express from 3 Av-149 Street to E 180 Street, skipping Jackson, Prospect, Intervale Avenue, Simpson, Freeman, 174 Sts and E Tremont Avenue. 2 trains run every 12 minutes.
3 trains run between 148 Street and Utica Avenue, making all 4 stops in Brooklyn.
No 4 trains between Bowling Green and New Lots Avenue.
No 5 trains between E 180 Street and 149 St-Grand Concourse. 5 trains will run every 20 minutes between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Bowling Green. Bronx-bound 5 trains skip 138 St-Grand Concourse.
No 7 service between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards – free shuttle buses provide alternate service. Flushing-bound 7 trains skip 33, 40, 46, 52 and 69 Streets in Queens.
Inwood-bound A trains skip 72, 81, 96, 110 and 116 streets. The Lefferts Blvd Shuttle’s last stop is Rockaway Blvd.
168 St-bound C trains skip 72, 81, 96, 110 and 116 streets. C trains skip 103 St in both directions.
Weekends until October 29, no L service between Broadway Junction and 8 Av – free shuttle buses provide alternate service. L trains run between Rockaway Pkwy and Broadway Junction.
Until October 29 (except October 15) 42 Street Shuttle service runs overnight.
Norwood-bound D trains skip 155, 161 and 170 streets.
Jamaica-bound F trains are rerouted via the E after 47-50 Streets to Roosevelt Avenue.
M service is extended to the 96 Street Q station.
Astoria-bound N trains skip 36 Avenue and 30 Avenue.
No Q trains between Prospect Park and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.
W trains run between Whitehall Street and Ditmars Blvd. Astoria-bound W trains skip 36 Avenue and 30 Avenue.
No J service between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center – free shuttle buses provide alternate service.
Per the whims of the MTA, there will probably be other problems, and the problems stated above are subject to change and worsen.
