Amazon on Thursday opened a physical store in Soho, stocked only with items rated 4 stars and above by online customers. The new concept, called Amazon 4-star, is located at 72 Spring Street, between Crosby and Lafayette Streets. By using customer ratings and reviews from their website, the store’s products will feature customer review cards with quotes from actual reviews.

“We created Amazon 4-star to be a place where customers can discover products they will love,” a post reads on the company’s blog. “Amazon 4-star’s selection is a direct reflection of our customers–what they’re buying and what they’re loving.”
The company started with the most popular categories on their website, including consumer electronics, devices, kitchen, home, toys books, and games. Amazon then chose only products from those categories that customers rated 4 stars or higher, or are “top sellers” or “new and trending,” to be sold in their store.
Amazon 4-star will also include products popular in the area. “Trending Around NYC” is currently a display table in the Soho store.
Products have digital price tags that show the Prime price and list price, average rating and total number of reviews. And, customers can sign up for a free 30-day trial for Prime and receive the Amazon.com price at the store immediately.
Starting Thursday, the store’s hours are Monday-Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 9 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Amazon has opened other physical retail stores, including Amazon Books, seasonal pop-ups and Amazon Go stores.
