You can now have all of your organic needs met within as little as an hour–without waiting in line. Amazon launched on Tuesday “ultrafast” same-day delivery from Whole Foods Market in 24 cities, including Lower Manhattan, Brooklyn and select areas of Long Island. The service, for Prime members only, began earlier this year and will continue to expand to more neighborhoods in NYC and in the country throughout 2018. “Today’s announcement is another way that we are continuing to expand access to our high-quality products and locally-sourced favorites,” Christina Minardi, executive vice president of operations for Whole Foods Market, said in a statement.
Through the “Prime Now” feature, which allows shoppers to select products from grocery stores and local restaurants, Prime members can shop for fresh produce, meat, seafood, select alcohol and other products from Whole Foods. And all will be available for delivery “in as little as an hour,” according to the company.
Delivery is available every day between 8 am and 10 pm. Find out if your neighborhood is within the delivery area here.
Amazon acquired Whole Foods last summer for $13.7 billion. Soon after the deal was inked, the tech company lowered the price of produce and offered deeper discounts for Prime members.
As 6sqft reported in January, the East Coast’s first Whole Foods Market 365 opened in Fort Greene, offering discounted produce in the ground floor of Two Trees’ 300 Ashland Place. The store also features a coffee bar and bakery, plant-based burger joint, organic juice shop and a self-serve beer, cider and wine venue called “POURiT Authority.”
