Lottery opens for 140 affordable units at Greenpoint’s tallest tower, from $613/month

Applications are now being accepted for 140 affordable units at The Greenpoint, the neighborhood’s first skyscraper and current tallest building. The 40-story residential building, located on the Brooklyn waterfront at 23 India Street, boasts amenities like a bike room, sports court, children’s playroom, outdoor entertainment space, fitness center, a public promenade and more. Qualifying New Yorkers earning 40 and 60 percent of the area median income can apply for affordable apartments ranging from a $613/month studio to a $1,230/month two-bedroom.



Interior renderings do not represent units available through the lottery

After the building topped out in February, sales of the Greenpoint’s 95 condos launched in July; prices started at $989,000 for one-bedrooms, $1.52 million for two-bedrooms and $2.16 million for three-bedrooms. Designed by Ismael Leyva Architects, the complex spans an entire block between India and Huron Streets. Its lower 27 floors will include 287 rentals and the condos will sit above them.

Additional amenities include a sun deck, co-working spots and a furnished courtyard. Two restaurants will sit in the base, including one by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson that will have an alfresco dining terrace. Residents can enjoy the Midtown Manhattan skyline and accessibility a ferry stop, located next to the building.

Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable apartments at 23 India Street until March 19, 2018. Residents of Brooklyn Community Board 1 will be given preference for 50 percent of the units.
