A housing lottery opened this week for 153 apartments at a newly constructed senior housing development in the Bronx. Located at 1701 Purdy Street, Parkchester Gardens is an eight-story rental with 221 units, 67 of which are set aside for formerly displaced seniors. Applicants must have at least one household member who is 62 years of age or older and earn no more than $60,050 annually.
Developed by Olshan Properties and O’Connor Capital Partners and designed by Dattner Architects, Parkchester Gardens will provide residents with on-site services and programming from Selfhelp Community Services. The development broke ground last spring and is expected to open in the middle of next year.
Apartments feature stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, and residents have access to a shared laundry room, a gym, a recreation room, and outdoor space.
Parkchester is located in the central Bronx, with convenient access via the Cross Bronx Expressway and the Bronx River Parkway as well as the 6 train at Castle Hill Avenue.
Qualifying New Yorkers can apply for the affordable units until December 24, 2022. Complete details on how to apply are available here. Questions regarding this offer must be referred to NYC’s Housing Connect department by dialing 311.
If you don’t qualify for the housing lotteries mentioned, visit CityRealty.com’s no-fee rentals page for other apartment deals in the city.
