Perkins Eastman’s 99 Hudson Street will be the tallest building in New Jersey
While Jersey City boasts beautiful views of Manhattan, the NJ water-front community continues to build up its own impressive skyline. In the last twenty years, 15 towers reaching more than 500 feet tall have been built, with seven more in the works. Notably, as CityRealty discovered, the latest tower rising in Jersey City at 99 Hudson Street will be the state’s tallest building, reaching a height of 889 feet. When the condominium’s construction is complete in 2019, the tower will be the 15th tallest in the country, outside of New York and Chicago.
Now ranked as the 15th skyline in the country, according to CTBUH’s Skyscraper Center, Jersey City and its development boom show no signs of slowing down. Developed by China Overseas America Inc. (COA), the condominium at 99 Hudson Street will rise 79 stories and feature 781 units, 15,000 square feet of retail space and 14,000 square feet of public space.
Designed by the architecture firm Perkins Eastman, the limestone-clad building will offer encompassing views of Manhattan, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The ground level will offer retail space with oversized windows and accent metal frames set between limestone piers. At night, the streets will glow from light fixtures attached to the piers.
Plans for Jersey City’s first large-scale condo project in over five years were first developed in 2014 and the project officially broke ground last January. Prospective buyers can check out the development team’s registration website, with sales anticipated to launch in early 2018.
