Anti-Trump protests planned in Union Square and Columbus Circle, tonight
After nearly two years of controversial campaigning, countless protests and seemingly endless division, Donald Trump has been elected the 45th president of the United States. While many Americans are either celebrating the win or reeling at its results, some still have some fight left in them—or at least a protest. Socialist Alternative is planning just that Wednesday in Union Square Park to “demonstrate mass opposition to Trump and his agenda,” according to the Facebook page of its New York chapter. The event is set to take place from 6-9 p.m. and aims to “build a new party of the 99 [percent]” that focuses on health care funding, free college, immigration, Black Lives Matter, rape culture, the Dakota Access Pipeline and more, the group wrote on Facebook. Additionally, Answer Coalition has also organized a protest at Columbus Circle for 5:30 p.m.
