Another New York Mets contract is grabbing headlines. Shortstop Francisco Lindor is set to score a $20 million penthouse at a boutique new condo building on the Upper East Side. As first reported by the Wall Street Journal, Lindor signed a contract for a 5,000-square-foot penthouse at 200 East 75th Street, an under-construction 18-story tower developed by EJS Group. Penthouse 5, which has six bedrooms and multiple terraces, is likely the baseball star’s new home.
The 31-year-old shortstop joined the Mets in 2021 after spending over five years with the Cleveland Guardians. He signed a 10-year contract with the team worth $431 million, which at the time made him the highest-paid player in Mets history. However, that achievement was vastly eclipsed on Sunday when the team signed former Yankees slugger Juan Soto to a 15-year, $765 million contract.
Designed by acclaimed architecture firm Beyer Blinder Belle Architects, 200 East 75th Street launched sales in March, starting at $3,250,000 for a two-bedroom. The 36 bespoke residences feature interior design by Yellow House Architects, which balances “classic elegance with modern sophistication,” incorporating stunning textures and elements throughout the residences and amenity spaces.
The grand residential lobby, with its hand-crafted plaster walls, arched ceilings, large windows, and Fibonacci-sequence-inspired marble floors, also features a hand-painted mural by artist Dean Barger.
Residences range from two- to six-bedroom layouts, featuring herringbone and straight-plank oak wood flooring throughout. Each floorplan flows gracefully, offering seamless transitions between private and entertaining spaces. The homes also feature cutting-edge smart home features, ensuring maximum convenience and comfort.
Select homes feature direct elevator access, grand arched windows, and expansive private outdoor space with multiple exposures of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.
Kitchens feature Italian Statuario Extra honed-stone countertops, backsplashes, and islands, equipped with a suite of Wolf and Sub Zero appliances.
In the primary bathrooms, residents can find freestanding soaking bathtubs, steam showers, and custom millwork vanities with silver nickel hardware, ensuring a serene, tranquil space.
Amenities include “the Parlor,” featuring a fireside seating area, a library, and a catering kitchen that opens onto a private courtyard garden. The Billiards Room features a billiards table with French oak paneling throughout, while the Garden offers an outdoor fireplace with private seating, providing a scenic retreat.
A landscaped rooftop terrace with a full outdoor kitchen, private seating, and dining areas provides scenic views. The Athletic Club features a state-of-the-art fitness and wellness center, including a private workout studio and private sauna, a professional-grade Full Swing multi-sports simulator, and a music room with practice space and soundproof recording.
Additional amenities include a children’s room, a teen lounge, a private cinema, a pet bathing station, bike storage, and a 24-hour concierge.
EJS acquired the land in 2021 for $32 million, according to The Real Deal. The development, along with an adjacent property—a 33-story project by the Elad Group—is building up and around a century-old, four-story walk-up, which is holding onto its spot through an intricate network of tenant protections and zoning rules.
Roughly half of the 36 units have been purchased, with construction expected to wrap up next year.
