N train platform closures, D masquerading as F, and other weekend service changes

April 20, 2018

It’s sad to say that the service changes planned for this weekend, despite being extensively disruptive, seem somewhat better than normal. The D train’s affinity for running on the F line continues, the N has a number of platform closures, and it’s apparently the R train’s turn to go on a bit of a vacation from running, but otherwise there are not a ton of notable new developments. Gauge the damage for yourself below.

No 2 or 3 trains between Brooklyn and Manhattan. Take the 4 or 5 instead. No service at Park Place, Wall St, Clark St and Hoyt St. No 2 trains between Dyre Av and E 180 St. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service.

5 trains replace weekend 2 service between Wakefield-241 St and E 180 St.

No 7 trains between Queensboro Plaza and 34 St-Hudson Yards. Free shuttle buses operate in two sections – between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av., and between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards – providing alternate service.

Inwood-bound A trains skip 72, 81, 86, 96, 103, 116, 135 and 155 Sts. Ozone Park/Far Rockaway-bound A trains run express from Hoyt Schermerhorn to Euclid Av.

No C trains between 145 St and 168 St – A trains make local stops at 135 St and 155 St. Uptown C trains skip 72, 81, 86, 96, 103, 116 and 135 Sts. Euclid Av-bound C trains run express from Hoyt Schermerhorn to Euclid Av.

World Trade Center-bound E trains run via the F from 47-50 Sts to W 4 St and skip Briarwood and 75 Av.

42 Street Shuttle service operates overnight. No Rockaway Park Shuttle service at Broad Channel.

Norwood-bound D trains skip 170 St, 174-175 Sts, 25 St, Prospect Av, 4 Av-9 St, Union St and DeKalb Av. Coney Island-bound D trains make local stops at 23 St and 14 St.

Jamaica-bound F trains skip 14 St and 23 St. Manhattan-bound F trains skip Sutphin Blvd, Briarwood and 75 Av. No F trains between Church Av and Stillwell Av – free shuttle buses provide alternate service. Manhattan-bound F trains skip 169 St.

M service ends early between 71 Av and Essex St. M trains operate between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Wyckoff Avs and Essex St and Myrtle Av via the J to/from Broadway Junction. No J trains between Marcy Av and Broadway Junction and no M trains between Essex St and Broadway Junction or between Myrtle-Wyckoff Av and Myrtle Av (Broadway). Shuttle trains run every 20 minutes between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

Coney Island-bound N platforms at Fort Hamilton Pkwy, New Utrecht Av, 18 Av, 20 Av, Kings Hwy, Avenue U and 86 St are closed for renovation through the fall. Astoria-bound N trains run express from 36 St, Brooklyn to Canal St via the Manhattan Bridge. Manhattan-bound N trains skip Broadway and 39 Av.

96 St-bound Q trains run via the R from DeKalb Av to Canal St.

Forest Hills-bound R trains run express from 36 St, Brooklyn to Canal St via the Manhattan Bridge. No R service between Whitehall St and 59 St, Brooklyn.

W special service operates between Whitehall St and Ditmars Blvd. Whitehall St-bound W trains skip Broadway and 39 Av.

Per the whims of the MTA, there will probably be other problems, and the problems stated above are subject to change and worsen.
