Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber Swap Cute Amagansett Cottage for $5.4M Montauk Beachside Retreat
The hot Hollywood couple may be downsizing as far as the number of bedrooms they’ll have, but they’re getting ocean views from everywhere in the house. As 6sqft reported, Watts and Schreiber put their stylish six-bedroom Amagansett cottage on the market for $6 million back in December. Now, 27East reports they’ve purchased a four-bedroom house further out on the Island in boho-trendy Montauk.
The 3,600-square-foot home, for which the award-winning actors paid $5.4 million, sits on a half-acre across the street from the beach and abuts a 100-acre nature preserve. Similar to their former retreat, there’s a heated gunite pool and pool house, a chef’s kitchen and garage parking.
As we mentioned, stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean are visible throughout this laid-back beach house on the eastern end of the south shore of Long Island. There’s plenty of room for relaxing with family–the couple have two children–or entertaining.
An open gourmet kitchen centered around a marble-topped island offers high-end appliances, a rustic farmhouse sink, a stone fireplace and a spacious dining area, with those breathtaking ocean views in every direction. High ceilings and exposed wood beams maintain the beach house vibe.
A family room offers a fireplace and opens onto an oceanside deck for outdoor dining or icy drinks on a post-beach afternoon. Also on the upper level is a den with a full bathroom and a beverage closet.
On the main floor are three airy and spacious bedrooms. A master suite with private bath opens onto a patio. In the formal living room is another fireplace and bespoke shelving.
On the finished lower level is another bedroom and full bath, a rec room and plenty of storage–and more direct access to the manicured seaside grounds.
As elegant and comfortable as it is, the home’s best feature may be the professionally landscaped half-acre grounds, featuring detailed stonework, a one-car garage, a pool house with an outdoor shower, and a heated gunite pool. Between the untamed ocean landscape of  Montauk and the adjacent nature preserve, and with ocean access just steps away, the couple’s newest getaway is definitely a swap in the right direction.
