A new option for summer fun without leaving the city begins today: Urban camping on Governors Island kicks off its summer season, courtesy of Collective Governors Island. The activity-packed retreat experience includes private boats, new menus, kids’ activities, wellness programs and more, plus a chance to sleep under the stars with stunning views of the Statue of Liberty and New York skyline while enjoying plush beds with 1,500 thread count sheets, private en-suite bathrooms and decks, electricity and wi-fi.
For its 2019 season, the close-to-home retreat has a long list of new perks, including new private boats for harbor tours and private transport to the island, public programming and newly-crafted menus that include fresh seafood, brunch, picnics, snacks and s’mores.
Guest accommodations include Summit tents equipped with a private en-suite bathroom and a private deck.
In the style of the old-time Catskills summer retreats, visitors can choose from a full slate of daytime and evening activities including harbor tours with a curated picnic basket,  scavenger hunts, lawn games, dance classes, crafting, yoga and meditation and a campfire.
Starting in July, Three Peaks Lodge will be open to the public, offering dinner, bar and weekend brunch with new menus focused on farm-to-table family style meals. Guests can enjoy al fresco dining overlooking Lady Liberty and the Manhattan skyline with a menu that features local clams, shellfish and fluke with a Mediterranean soul. The beverage program will emphasize New York spirits and female winemakers.
